Bowie's Diamond Dogs Gets The Deluxxxe Reissue Treatment!!!

via www.davidbowie.com:

The classic David Bowie album, Diamond Dogs, is to be afforded the treatment given to the recent re-issues of Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane with a 30th Anniversary double disc edition.

The package will come as a miniature reproduction of the original sleeve, housed in a slipcase with a booklet of rare pictures and related information, including a bonus disc of currently unavailable and hard-to-find tracks.

Diamond Dogs (30th Anniversary Edition) is scheduled for May, but we don't have a definite date just yet. Below is the tracklisting for both discs:

David Bowie - Diamond Dogs (30th Anniversary Edition)

CD 1:
01 Future Legend (1.07)

08 We Are The Dead (4.54)
09 1984 (3.27)

CD 2:

Thanks for posting this.

Not impressed with most of the bonus tracks - except for the "1984 Musical" version of "Candidate". Rebel Rebel 2003 is a pile of crap.

"David Live" and "Stage" will also be reissued on SACD around the same time.

Now, bring on Deluxe versions of "Young Americans" and "Station To Station".

Can someone explain to me why anyone on the planet would want to re-buy this album for a couple of tracks you can easily get on the net and some cheesy liner notes? The sound on the 1999 release is great.
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

I'm really cynical about these Bowie reissues. Is there ANY bowie fan alive who doesn't already own the extra tracks?

I'm just curious as to why Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold The World & Hunky Dory didn't get this treatment. neutral

BoraBora

I was expecting sometime more interesting.
I already got all the tracks on previous releases but the 2 edit (and honestly I can live without them), and knowing that much material from this DB period is closed in the vault make me think of this release like another lost occasion.
Anyway I think it's a good deal for who don't own the DD Rykodisc edition and the S+V box set.

I for one am happy about this one. I love what they did with the Ziggy and Aladdin Sane reissues last year, and Diamond Dogs is a huge favorite...I look forward to the extensive liner notes and pics. And yeah, I have most of the bonus tracks, though a couple were on the Ryko reissue of DD that I slept on and don't own (such an idiot I am), and as for the rest...all I can say is that it'll be nice to have 'em all on the same disc.

If you wanna talk about CYNICAL, let's talk about the deluxe reissue of "Black Tie White Noise"...rolleyes

I didn't bother getting that. Was it remastered?

I know the lyrics were absent. mad

Because they'll reissue them next year in "SUPER SUPER LIMITED deluxe-digipack-with-sugar- on-top" packaging. Which will be replaced in 2006 by "The Definitive Edition". 2007 will see "The Even-More Definitive Edition (Whoops, We Forgot Something!)".

Well, there was a pretty jam-packed bonus disc of remixes and the like, and a DVD of the "Black Tie White Noise" promo long-form video that was released w/ the album. The bonus mixes are pretty boring, but at least I finally have a copy of "Real Cool World" in my collection, for what that's worth. And the video is boooorrrringgg, but you know how it is when you need your fix of staring at Bowie...at least he looks pretty, all tanned and coifed-up (though I think he's far prettier pale and death-like, but that's just me). It was kind of a ridiculous excuse for a reissue, but there are some treats on it.
