Songs you're embarassed to admit that you love

Y'all know the type of songs I'm talking about....those much-maligned tracks that you play ONLY when there's nobody else around lol Since we don't really know each other on this site,I feel comfortable telling you what my musical "guilty pleasures" are,but most of the friends I hang around with would be shocked at this list.Try not to laugh too hard, okay? lol Here's my list...

*** "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" by BJ Thomas (1969) ----yes,I love this song.At the beginning of 1970,this was the Number One song on the charts,so I know I'm not the only one who liked it...lol...I love the line that goes "Because I'm free...nothing's worrying me" and the part that goes "It won't be long til' happiness steps up to greet me".How can you despise a song with positive lyrics like that?

*** "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone (1977) ---for the life of me,I cannot figure out why so many people cringe at the mere mention of this song. There's nothing cheesy about it.It's a beautifully arranged ballad that struck a chord with many listeners in 1977 (it was Number One on the pop charts for several weeks).I remember my mother buying the 45 single, but these days, even SHE would rather forget this track...lol...btw,how many of you remember the flop movie of the same name in which this song appeared? The movie tanked, but the song became a classic.

*** "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band (1976) ---in the summer of 1976,you couldn't escape this song. But these days, the song is ridiculed.I think it's a wonderful folk/pop ballad with some slighty suggestive lyrics and some rather clever metaphors...lol....

*** "Feelings" by Morris Albert (1975) ---I can't think of any other song that gets dissed more than this one...lol...it reached Number One on the charts in 1975,but I bet most of the folks who bought it back then would never admit to it.

lol well,it took guts for me to share that with you.Let's see YOUR lists!

yeah, I must admit I kinda like that one too boxed I bought the 45 as a gift for my mother after seeing the movie on TV. Didn't really have a big impact on me though can't remember anything about the storylinbe... if there was one lol

hehe, a song about bonin' in the afternoon, that's cool thumbs up!
I remember seeing this on VH1, but it passed on me back in 1976, I was 11 years old and just starting out with music

Raindrops and Feelings, yeah well... those trax are fine with me, I won't turn of the radio when I hear it lol ...and for my personal list of tracks hiding in the closet, I'm not sure if I should give such secrets away, this could be used against me in court hmm
but let's see... I'm gonna look up my collection when I get back home after work and see if I can find something even more embarassing than you lol

I vaguely remember the movie, but I do know that the star was Didi Conn (who played "Frenchie" in 'Grease' a year later). She played a singer and in the end, when she gets dogged by her boyfriend, she sings "You Light Up My Life" (lip-syncing Debbie's vocals). That's all I remember.

clapping this is a superb song. For some reason, when I listen to it,I always think that George Michael should cover it.His voice is perfect for a song like this.

headbang I get down to dry my hair with a little touch of gel
I read all the newspapers but my mother still reads my mail

I won't wish my life away so tell me if you can
Who decides when I'm grown up and turned into a man

Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man)
But they still call me boy-oy, so just drop it, ooh
Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man)
And I'll be jumpin' for joy-oy
When they drop the boy, ooh
When they drop the boy

I'm tired of the boy thing, I've got other things to do
I'd like to be in politics, can't take another visit to the zoo

No more bikes or plastic models, and braces on my tee-eeth
I'd like to drive a dino and to live out of my reach

Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man)
But they still call me boy-oy, so just drop it
Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man)
And I'll be jumping for joy-oy (I'll be jumpin' for joy), ooh
When they drop the boy

Ooh, drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man)
But they still call me boy-oy, so just drop it
Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man), I said drop it baby
And I'll be jumping for joy-oy (I'll be jumpin' for joy)

Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy, yeah
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man), I said drop it
But they still call me boy-oy
Drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man)
And I'll be jumping for joy-oy, I said drop it
Drop the boy, drop the boy-oy
I'm a man, yes I am (I'm a man), I said drop it
But they still call me boy-oy, I said drop it, drop it

Dancing In Heaven by Q-Feel! I was bopping to it today. For some reason, i thought this was new wave when it came out, but oh hell no, this is straight up disco queen music. And I love it.

Does that make me gay? Who will tell my wife and kids?
