I was at Tower today and realized that Emmy's first 5 albums were all remastered and expanded and released on Tuesday! For those of you only familiar with her most recent yet extraordinary work...you should check out these amazing albums:

PIECES OF THE SKY (1975)
ELITE HOTEL (late 1975) ***HER BEST EARLY ALBUM***
LUXURY LINER (1977)
QUARTER MOON IN A TEN CENT TOWN (1978)
BLUE KENTUCKY GIRL (1979)

These albums released between 1975-1979 pretty much established Emmylou as a force to be reckon with in the country world. Though they saw most of their success on the country charts...each album showcased Emmy's signature blending of Country/Bluegrass/Folk/Contemporary Rock. Following the untimely 1974 death of Country-Rock pioneer Gram Parsons, Emmylou (former singing partner/bandmate) promised to keep Parsons vision alive and formed her own band called The Hot Band and signed with Reprise/Warner.

In these gems you'll find mostly covers as Emmylou is widely known to be an interpretor of other's songs. She covers everyone from The Beatles ("Here, There, Everywhere") to Merle Haggard ("Bottle Let Me Down"), Gram Parsons ("Sin City","Wheels", many more) to Hank Williams ("Jambalaya"). Guest artists on these albums include Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Rodney Crowell, Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt.

For those like myself who love Emmylou and already owned these...the remasters are all expanded with extra songs recorded at the time of each albums release.

For those who are discovering her...you can't go wrong with any of these albums....they prove why Emmylou is still a vibrant force in modern music!

Roses In The Snow is my favorite Emmylou album, but I will definitely check these out.
