Exclusive: Details about Madonna's summer tour

Exclusive info from DrownedMadonna, one of the most informative, most reliable Madonna fansites....

"I have received some very exciting Madonna tour information from some reliable New York sources.Due to the nature of this information,I am not at liberty to reveal their identity.

A journey through time is the rumored theme of Madonna's latest extravaganza of a tour.Madonna will kick off the journey in the roaring 1920s all the way through the present, performing Madonna classics of the 80s up through the present.Fans will be thrilled to hear that "Like A Virgin" is indeed part of the setlist; the decade that it will represent is yet unknown, but be well aware that it will be like nothing you have ever experienced.

Madonna's musical collaborators on the tour are Pat Leonard and Joe Henry. If you recall,Madonna spoke earlier in 2003 about a musical she was writing.Well, this tour is rumored to be loosely based on that very musical.

Tour dates are yet unconfirmed but look for a similar schedule as the Drowned World Tour with more European dates. This is all I have been told, but rest assured this is not the end but the beginning."

This news makes perfect sense! In recent weeks,we have heard that Madonna was collaborating with her old producer Pat Leonard. It's too soon for a new album,so Pat must be working with her on this tour. There was also a rumor that Mirwais was in LA in December, cutting some new tracks for an upcoming Madonna project.Perhaps he is also involved with this tour somehow?

Anyway,I like the concept of this tour. After the Drowned World tour in 2001,Madonna was quoted as saying that,in her view,it was too "self-indulgent".She apparently wants to do it right this time, with a setlist of her greatest hits that fans have been dying to hear.It will be interesting to see which songs are used for each era.Hopefully, one part of the show will be devoted to the Disco era of the 70s,where songs like "Holiday" and "Into The Groove" could be used.Obviously, songs like "Cherish" and "True Blue" could be used for the 50s/60s segment, since they sound like girl-group songs from that era.It all sounds really exciting!

Here's some tidbits from the dancers who auditioned on Saturday, and some other news from other sources...

***"Hollywood" will definitely be part of the setlist

***The dancers were asked to dance to "Die Another Day",so it's a safe bet that it will also be on the setlist.

***"Rehearsals start on March 1.Tour is from June to September (similar to DWT).

***The tour will include 32 shows in the States and 15 shows in Europe.

***Bookings are still not confirmed, but TORONTO has her confirmd for August 4th (VoicesCarry...did you get that?) lol

***Niki Harris and Donna Delory,Madonna's longtime backup singers, may NOT be included on this tour.According to the webmaster of Niki's official site...

"I got an email from Niki telling me that she is aware of a big tour being planned by Madonna's camp, but neither she nor Donna have been invited this go aroundfor the tour. She said if anything changed, she would tell me immediately. For now,it appears that they will not grace the stage with Madonna this time.Yes,I'm disappointed too.I hope they come to their senses and invite them along again. It just won't be the same without them".

This guy even has a petition to get Madonna to ask them to join the tour! lol

I think that, this time,Madonna simply wants to go in a totally different direction.Who knows, for this tour, she may just hire a whole choir to be her backup singers...lol...

wow, this is too good to be true!!!!

I'm excited to get to see a "hits" tour. Although, I think I'm happy that "Drowned World" was the 1st Madonna show I saw. I think Ray of LIght/Music was her most exciting musical period of her career to date. I was more than happy to have the focus be on that set of songs, rather than a career-spanning greatest hits tour. This seems like a good time to re-energize her career a bit. After the flop that was American Life (although I love it) this will help remind the world why she's stayed near the top for so long!

Yeah,I think the whole purpose of this tour is simply to celebrate her 20 years in the business. Most of her old classics were ignored on the last tour, and I think she wants to play those songs again (remember the excitement when she performed "Like A Prayer" on the MTV special last year?).But Madonna is bold and courageous. She will find some way to make these performances "fresh" and unlike the typical greatest-hits tour.I can't wait.

rolleyes Oh come on guys...I love Donna and Nikki too,but they are not the ONLY backup singers on the planet...lol....I'm sure Madonna probably just wants to work with different singers for this tour.Who knows....maybe for this tour, she will have male backup singers? Or a four-member female group as her backup?

It's all about evolving and trying new things lol
