THe best song on "Like A virgin" is...

Hands down, "Angel." I think for the time Madonna was in (the curse of the sophomroe follow-up) she proved she had it by pouring her heart and voice into "Angel." The best song on the record....

I still think Into The Groove is the best tune on there... even tho' it wasn't on the original pressings.

Is Angel even on that album? I thought that was a single only release. confuse

As you can tell it's been a long while since I gave a shit about Madonna 's early work. smile

Sorry, but I just don't like the vocal on Angel. Or the lyric. I would have to say "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" was quite passionate. For me, I like the title track best.

YES!!!! You are sooooo right! Angel is the best song on that album. I thought you were going to sa something like "Material Girl" or "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". But you picked the one that I like the best.

I really like "Angel". It's very lush and romantic, and probably the least dated track.

"Into The Groove" is not currently available on the Like A Virgin album (it was tacked on to some pressings of the LP and initial CD pressings only; it's not generally considered to be a track from this album).

I would say that realistically, "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" is the best thing on that record. It shows a maturity and emotional performance that Madonna had not shown up to that point. But my absolute favorite would be a tie between "Shoo be Doo" and "Material Girl". Shoo be Doo gets unfairly overlooked. That's such a fun song and really takes me back to my childhood. Material Girl is just a knockout pop single and it's as catchy today as it was back then.

I agree on Shoo Be Doo. "Shoo-Be-Doo": is the absolute best cut on the record. It is soulful and funky. Like "Think Of Me" on the first album. It was sophisticated and 'Motown' ish, and plus it was completely written by Madonna.

"Dress You Up"

That's a great song to listen to when you're putting on clothes and getting ready to go out.

The remastered 'Like A Virgin' CD missed a golden opportunity to include many other songs from that period, which could have been the bonus tracks...

"Gambler" (appears on the 'Vision Quest' soundtrack, but has never been available on a Madonna album or compilation)
"Into The Groove"
"Lies In Your Eyes" (previously unreleased track from the 'Vision Quest' sessions,1985)
"Warning Signs" (previously unreleased track from the 'Vision Quest' sessions,1985)

We can always hope for a box set!

I'd have to say my favorite is "Over and Over". While "Like A Virgin" is a good album, I always thought that it sold way more than it should have and had there been any justice, an album like "Bedtime Stories" would have sold in LAV numbers, and vice versa. But I guess it is all about timing and LAV was a good pop album in a time when that music was the thing.

Anyway, am I the only one that thinks "Like A Virgin" the song is one of the most overplayed, over hyped of her big hits? It's a good song but she has some many better ones. I think the that thing seperates it from most of her hits is the fact that she didn't write it and you can almost tell. I read in a recent story about the very possible upcoming Madonna tour that fans are looking forward to seeing her do LAV...Really? I'm not. I can think of about 20 other big Madonna hits that she likely will ignore that I would rather hear her do instead. I think most fans would agree. Madonna did "Like A Prayer" live at an MTV specail for AL last year and the reaction was insane. Madonan also did LAV live not only at the MTV Awards (kind of) but during a live preformance at a record store and while the reaction was big, it was nothing like the excitement of her doing LAP.

what's the tracklisting for the record? all i can think of is angel, dress you up and material girl. oh, and the title track. out of those, dress you up is my favorite and closely followed by material girl and angel. oh, and love don't live here anymore is on that record too right? i'm not crazy about the song though.

love don't live in this edit

Love Don't Live has an awesome drum and string arrangement. I also like Shooby doo because it's underplayed!
