Tyra Banks "Shake Ya Body"

I heard about this forthcoming track while watching "America's Next Top Model" (addictive show).

Can anyone give me some more info on this upcoming single by her. Also, what's up with her album? Who are the producers, songwriters and other contributors?

What, Tyra banks can sing? Probably in the same way Hilary Clinton can write.

Nevermind. I found out by going to the UPN site...

Download here: http://www.upn.com/shows/...ngle.shtml

It's produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jenkins. Video debuts Feb. 24 on UPN during the "Top Model" show.

Post your thoughts on the song here. Pump it or dump it?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (sniff) that song is fucking hi-LA-ri-ous. Thank you JanFan4L for sharing it. Wow. This twit really thinks she can sing! Could she BE any more atonal and off-key? And this is AFTER in-studio pitch correction and days of vocoder processing, folks. Awful voice, awful production, turgid lyrics and no beat for what's supposed to be a club song. Just.....amazing.

I now know what Brandy means about Rodney smothering her artistically. Jerkins voice and production are emblazoned all over this track. It sounds like a Brandy throwaway track. I can totally hear Brandy singing this song instead of Tyra. It's like Rodney let her sing in the booth and he came in afterwards with a vocoder and altered her voice. It's so by-the-numbers. Plus, I think Jerkins' production still is run-of-the-mill and non-adventurous. He uses the same vocoder, drum machine loops, and claps in all of his dance tracks.

Brandy would have thrown this one in the shitter and never looked back, alright.

I've seen DJ's at proms produce better material than this.

Hey, I guess there's one saving grace for Tyra: at least she'll look good in the video, but hey she's a supermodel. I'm still trying to reckon whether she's laying on a hardwood dancefloor on the single cover or is she standing up?

Fucking terrible song, fucking terrible "voice". This is a joke, right? Or something she's doing for an inner city poodle welfare charity? I mean, she's not SERIOUS about starting a music career is she?

Great video though ... as long as you turn the sound off.

He must've said "Darkchild" over the track at least once, yes?

As much as I'd like to download the single, it's not happening on this computer but I heard part of it on GMA and if that taste said anything about the teh entire song, yes, it's trite. But she looks amazing! That has to count for something.

Man u guys are trippin. This is better than "Uh Oh" - Lumidee or "Yeah" by Usher or "Saltshaker" by Lil John.

Ok, it is not good, but it is not what u guys are making it out 2 b. Actually the beat aint bad, although it is still standard Rodney, just like standadrd Neptunes, although Neptunes writing is better.

hey what happened 2 Shakspere?

Anyway, the song aint THAT bad. Its better than alot of shit out there right now though.

No. I wouldn't get THAT deep and be a Britney supporter. I'd jam to this over "Toxic" anyday.

Toxic's production at least sounds great, though. That's the only Britney track I really like other than "Baby One More Time".

Kevin "Shekspere" Briggs was on a roll in 1999 and 2000 with tons of hits Destiny's Child "Bills, Bills, Bills," "So Good," and "Bugaboo," TLC's "No Scrubs," Pink's "There U Go!," Kandi's "Don't Think I'm Not," *NSYNC's "It Makes Me Ill." Everyone was wanting a piece of him and then he just dropped out of sight.

I gotta agree with this. Darkchild may be a one-trick pony, but he's a GOOD one trick pony. His tracks are complex musically and layered well. The Sleptunes's tracks have great BEATS, but are so simplistically BORING to listen to. Loop/ sparse bass line/ weird synth sound here & there. That's their formula. Darkchild has skillz. He REALLY could do without the vocal "watermark" on every song he produces, though. Its annoying. I guess he does it because so many people copy his style.

I think doing the show has made Tyra want to explore the aspects of media that she herself hasn't accomplished much in. She said it herself that models these days have to be multi-talented. I think she's just trying to live up to her own set standards. It still ain't gonna help the vocals on that song, though! evillol

I think out of the current crop of urban studio-whizzes, Timbaland is the most adventurous and multi-layered. Sure, the Neptunes explored rock with N*E*R*D and Spymob, but Timbaland consistently cooks up beats from many different angles. The Neptunes R&B production is a tad same-y and predictable (thinking about Jay-Z's "Change Clothes," Pharrell's "Frontin'" and Busta's "Light Yo A**"). Darkchild's apex was Brandy's "Never Say Never." Shekspere and Swizz Beats have both fizzled. And wasn't Rockwilder supposed to be the next big thing at one point?! Guess that faded.

Agreed.

2001: Whenever I realize I'm listening to a Rockwilder beat on Janet's All For You album, I just think "where the hell did this guy go after this project"?

2000: I liked "No Scrubs" but all those other Shekspere beats mentioned were far too commercial for my taste and I'm not too worried about where that double-highhat pitched-up-snare and triangle sound went.

1999: I liked "Got A Man" by Eve but I really hated Swizz' "blindfolded at the synth with a cane" unlayered melodies.

1998: Never Say Never! Darkchild had it locked on so many productions, even as early as 1996 (Booty Call soundtrack, anyone? mr.green ) and he is obviously talented but as this thread has demonstrated, tends to give different artists the cookie-cutter treatment nowadays.

It's just awful. Like Jennifer Lopez, she sounds like a cat being sawed in half, and the song isn't catchy at all.

And she's pretty, but her forehead is really huge, isn't it?
