Justin at Bat for "Wanna-Be" new movie Justin at Bat for "Wanna-Be"
Pop star will play baseball star in second movie Justin Timberlake is set to star in the feature film Wanna-Be. The pop star will play the lead -- a college baseball prodigy who gets injured and returns to his hometown in New York and tries to assimilate into gangster culture despite his high school friends' attempts to keep him on the straight and narrow. Wanna-Be was written by CSI creator Anthony Zuicker and will be directed by Eric Eason. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in June and hit theaters next year. The subject matter is a natural for Timberlake, who is a big sports fan, having served as a celebrity correspondent for TNT. He was also the driving force behind 'N Sync's annual charity basketball games, and in 2002 he stunned onlookers by putting a nifty move on former NBA star Kenny Smith in a celebrity game broadcast on TNT. The news of Wanna-Be comes a couple days after the announcement of what will be Timberlake's debut feature film role in Edison. In that film, written and directed by David J. Burke, Timberlake will play a journalist who discovers an elite team of corrupt cops. Edison will star Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman and LL Cool J and is due in theaters next year. Let the rain come down...17 days.... | |

Sounds suspciously like the Britney Spears NASCAR film that's been rumoured for a year or so now. Edison IS in pre-production though. But then Kevin Spacey has made loser choices of late (Pay It Forward, The Life Of David Gale, K-Pax), so we all know where this one is going.
