Rockwell

I have always been a big fan of Rockwell and i could never figure out why he wasn't successful after Somebody's Watching Me & Obscene Phone Caller (both were excellent songs) he had some good singles after that.. one was "Knife" and another funky one was "Peeping Tom" he also had a cool look around 1995-86 (a Prince type look) but he was never able to reach the top 100 again with anything he released..its a mystery to me ..was anybody else into Rockwell at the time?

Rockwell wasn't really successful because of the simple fact that he CAN'T SING.On most of his songs,he basically just talks his way through them."Somebody's Watching Me" is a fun, catchy song, but we alll know the REAL reason why it was a hit and it has nothing to do with Rockwell's own talents.I like "Obscene Phone Caller",but once again,it finds Rockwell just talking his way through the song.Subsequent singles like "Peeping Tom'" and "He's A Cobra" are nothing more than over-synthesized and over-produced mid-80s pop crap.I wouldn't even buy a greatest hits compilation from this guy.
