I still agree with Voicescarry. I like both of these new songs of hers...but I don't think either makes a strong first single. I don't long for the old days...I would just love to hear something slamin', ground breaking, fresh....and upbeat. Alicia Keys has already released a Kanye West song...so "I Want You" is not ground breaking....it may be fresh for Janet...but its not like she is introducing a newsound with this. And with "JALW"...it is a new sound for Janet...but its not ground breaking either (IMO).
I am not a fan of Beyonce's and I am reluctant to bring this up...but when I first heard "Crazy in Love"...I was like... wow! It was slamin', new, high energy and fresh. I was hoping Janet would come out and blow all the younger divas out of the water. But neither of the songs has knocked me off my feet like Beyonce's first single. I should also mention I am a HUGE fan of janet...I am more into her than any other artist and I support her in everything. But...I will admit when I am not nuts about something she puts out. Some fans (and I am not referring to anyone) feel their favorite artist can do no wrong. Just because a person expresses their point of view toward an artist does not mean they are slamming them. I am looking forward to hearing the whole album and hearing these two new singles in the context of the album. I also cannot wait to hear a new Janet song I can dance to (when I heard "Come On Get Up" I was totally blown away). Right now...these two songs will not bring people to the dancefloor. I have already seen "JALW" clear the dancefloor at my favorite club...and that was a bummer.

"I Want You" isn't a dancefloor song. It's a slow jam. If there was a club remix to it then maybe it would be, but I don't expect to hear IWY in the clubs. "Just A Little While" is a dancefloor song, but I don't see it fitting on urban setlists. Pop, Top 40 and gay clubs would play it, but definitely not at a hip hop club back-to-back with something like G-Unit or Ying Yang Twins. Unless Janet remixes it for urban consumption, I don't see it being embraced by the hip hop/R&B club crowd. Haven't had the pleasure of hearing it in the clubs yet, so I don't know how clubgoers are reacting to it. However, when "Megamix '04" was played I've seen it pack a dancefloor several times. "here = hear" edit. [This message was edited Sat Feb 21 16:24:38 2004 by JANFAN4L]

dude, you know the "classic feel" doesn't come from him, right? it's from the main ingredient. kanye west does a great job in mixing shit, but it's the samples that make it all sound classic. don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain i'm high, so high
