Super 70's Soul Track Of The Day(2/20/04):Bobby Womack-That's The Way I Feel About Cha If I had to pick one song that is a good true representation of that good old down home soul music of the 70's, this track would TRULY be it. From the moment it starts out with that deep bluesy guitar lick...the song has already established itself as a classic. What I love about Bobby Womack is he is just a talented songwriter/amazing storyteller and that VOICE is just SO SOULFUL. He really puts his heart and soul into his vocals.....and that scream of his is a true epitome of soul/r&B music and a testament to what soul music was all about in the early 70's. This 1971 soul gem brings back plenty of pleasant memories of my father playing his music on the stereo back in tha day.
Bobby surely should be in the Hall OF Fame for his contributions to music...he wrote so many great songs and have played as a session musicans on many great EVEN classic albums. Deserves more due than he has gotten. Enjoy, Brother 9/15

I remember when hearing this 4 the first time & when
the chorus came with those harmonies it cave me goosebumps. Truly 1 of his greatest moments. It is so beautiful!!! Bobby Womack always give it all & he´s not afraid 2 let it all out. In the linernotes 2 the 2cd collection "Midnight mover" U can read that Sly Stone once told him -Bobby,you fall in and out of love faster than anyone I know he replied,-I know!! I live for love.I´ve always been tormented by love. I don´t mind the pain.I WANT TO BE THE KING OF PAIN' /peace Manki

Can I shout out his "If you think you're lonely now"?
Remember Womack & Womack? Think it was Sam Cooke's daughter and Bobby's son--or vice versa. "Baby I'm scared of you" was my jam! I just wish Mary J. and K-Ci (or is it Jo-Jo?) would cover that joint. I think Jodeci had a little bit of Bobby Womack in 'em.

Yes,actually it was Bobby´s brother Cecil that was in "Womack & Womack" along with Sam Cookes daughter.Bobby Womack was the guitarplayer in Sam Cooke´s band & when Sam Cooke died he married Sam widow. Sam´s brothers did´nt like that so they tracked Bobby down & beat him up. /peace Manki

Just a couple of days ago I was once again browsing through his 12 CD (!!!) collection that was released in 1991 with his output from 1969 to 1976 - classic Stuff! And "The Poet II" ranks still in my All time Top 10 favourite albums ever! Bobby Womack Nostalgia just ain't what it used to be

" I like to help a man when he's down....BUT how can I help you Harry when you want to sleep on the ground....sorry Harry you too much weight to carry around" This was my father's favorite Bobby Womack song...He bought TWO copies of this song....because he wore the first 45 rpm out.....He would play "Harry Hippie" over and over. I still remember how the 45rpm and it was on United Artists records...I still remember the logo on the vinyl single.

I have been listening to this song for the last week or so. I LOVE Bobby Womack, this is one of his true classics and it can be found on his classic album Communication. I also love If You Think You're Lonely Now, Across 110th Street and my all time favorite his 9min remake of the Carpenters Close To You. His monlogue that opens the song is sick!!! And the way he talks about the politics of the music business is right on.
