PAULINA RUBIO takes Number 1

PAULINA's latest debuts at Number 1 on the Latin charts, beating out THALIA's Latest which takes number 2. This Battle between the two has been going on for years, the two are the queens in the Latin Field, and the battle is HEALTHY as they say, unlike the current battle in POP FEMALE music today, these LADIES dont trash each other, they respect each other and rise to the competetion, it seems TRASHING is the American Way. Both of these ladies are coming off ENGLISH CDS that went gold and spawned top 10 singles, and their Last LATIN CDs both sold over 3 million copies which is huge in the LATIN market. This is not the first battle these two have had, they Both have been at the solo thing for almost 15 years, and in the later 80's as teenagers they were in a group together called TIMBRICHE. Paulinas LATEST CD is all new Material, and she is working with varied producers and sounds (AMAZING CD), as for THALIA her latest is a Greatest Hits Package with some new tracks, her set is also available as a DVD collection with Videos from her whole Solo Career. Paulina has also Landed a Modeling contract with ANDREA which is the largest Shoe distributor in Latin America, Thalia has also had this deal in the past.

Top 10 singles? Neither "I Want You" (no. 22) nor "Don't Say Goodbye" (no. 41) reached the top 10. And those were their only hits off Thalia and Border Girl, respectively.

I wish good luck to Paulina, though, because she has a certain earthy charm. Thalia is an annoying twit, though, who married Tommy Mottola and immediately started bitching all over town that she didn't need an influential husband to be successful "like Mariah".

Just qouting from an article on them, I do believe that PAULINA's was a TOP 10 dance hit or club hit, whatever they call it. And true PAULINA is about as earthy as they come, despite the fact that she grew Up very well to do, she respects her Mexican heritage probably more than any other entertainer.

I love them both and with them the best. Their music is always different and makes you want to go out and get their album each time. But yes, their battle has been going on for so long but its healthy as they say.

And to further their battle, they are currently 1 and 2 on the Latin Album chart, with paulina being 1 and Thalia being 2. They are also 1 and 2 on the Latin singles chart with Tahlia being 1 and Paulina being 2.

Both albums are great!

And just a note on Thalia's Greatest Hits. There is 1. a dvd with all her videos and a couple extra rare ones. 2. A greatest hits cd. 3. A greatest hits cd/dvd combo. Less tracks. But both come with 2 new songs. wink

Thats been my question for awhile, they are many Latin CDS, by artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Mana, Ricky Martin, thalia, Paulina Rubio, Juanes which sell millions of copies over a space of time but never chart on the Top 200. I believe that Latin albums are not allowed to chart like this on the TOP 200, I dont think I have ever seen a An ALL LATIN cd debut on that chart. There is no way that the Number 1 Latin CD sells less than the Number 200 CD on the TOP 200, that is just not possible. Also Soundscan is not available to alot of LATIN stores, alot of the buying of LATIN ARTISTS are done in the Mom and Pop stores specializing in Latin Music, so alot of the sales are probably not even counted. This is also true in the Reggae market too, most Reggae artists are not signed to majors and the buying is done in the Mom and Pop stores.
