New Lenny Kravitz album "Baptism" + tour

Lenny's new album is called "Baptism" (instead of "Funk")

tourdates (more to come):
01.05.2004 - New Orleans Jazz Fest, New Orleans, USA
03.06.2004 - Color Line Arena, Hamburg, Germany
05.06.2004 - Waldbühne, Berlin, Germany
06.06.2004 - Kölnarena, Köln, Germany
08.06.2004 - Bercy, Paris, France
19.06.2004 - Königsplatz, München, Germany
01.07.2004 - Festhalle, Frankfurt, Germany

From Rollingstone
Due out May 11th "I haven't been outside in days," says Lenny Kravitz while lounging in a basement studio at New York's Hotel Edison. "I've been here eighteen hours a day." Kravitz has just finished mixing Baptism, his seventh album, which proved a singularly personal effort: He wrote the songs while crashing at a buddy's New York apartment, then played all the instruments and produced the entire album while staying at the Edison. "Duke Ellington recorded here, and we took this place over becaust it was the last classic room in New York," he says. "I kept it really focused--just guitar, bass and drums, plus keyboard and strings on a couple of songs."
- LOOK FOR The guitar-heavy "I Don't Want to Be a Star," which mentions both struggles with loneliness and partying with Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger, and the first single, "Minister of Rock n'Roll," a psychedelic, Moog-driven stomper with big-rock swagger.

So what happened? Did he shelve FUNK or is it going to be the soundtrack to his movie? He has been working on FUNK since CIRCUS but Virgin wouldn't let him release an all funk record...is that the case again? F8ck, I was really looking foward to the FUNK!

Peace, Serveitupfrankie*

i don't know yet if this is the actual 'Funk' album. maybe he just changed the title. let's hope so, been waiting for some funk for a few years now :S
i guess it is, 'coz the track 'i don't want to be a star' was going to be on 'Funk' as well according to earlier reports.
i haven't heard anything about lenny's movie in ages, so i don't know if that's still on.
