I have to say that is a very blinkered view. Music doesn't start and end with P.

He is admittedly one of the greatest artists ever to have committed to record, if not the best, but everyone is entitled to thereown tastes.

My personal collection includes Prince (obviously), Pink Floyd, Joy Division, New Order, The Manics, Spiritualized, Cowboy Junkies, Mozart, Will Young, Duran Duran, Metallica, Muse, Roxette, Snow Patrol, The Darkness, Christine, and many many more, far too many to mention here.

My point is that everyones taste in music is different. Each and every one of the artists I mentioned above give me pleasure when listeneing to them, whether it's in the car, working, chilling, ironing, boff

Respect their taste in music - if they enjoy it, let them enjoy it!!
Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

I agree, Janet is horrible. I think she’s worse than Christina. My favorite non-Prince albums of all time? Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Radiohead’s OK Computer, U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind, Patsy Cline’s Greatest Hits. I rarely like pop, but I did like JC’s song from that marching band movie.

Well, I know that I have some musical "guilty pleasures". I'm sure plenty of the folks on here do as well.

How can music snobs exist and think they are still important in this day and age?

I listened to Janet all weekend and while she might be pop, those songs (you you have to give a lot of credit to Jim and Terry and a few others) are amazing on so many levels.

Apprently we need to read more "Spin" and "Rolling Stone" to discover what real music is. To each their own.

i can't believe that there are still people who think like this. i remember...hmm, let's see...in HIGH SCHOOL, when you had to choose your side of the fence lol.

so, if i like lobster does that mean i can't like steak? what about surf and turf then? if i like soy milk should i have to stay away from dairy? and, i'm kind of curious...who made you the almighty music god?

why don't you do us all a favor...just so we can have the 'right' music in our collection...why don't you post a list of the music we should have along with a list of music that we should not have. that'll help us all out a bunch! rolleyes

Music Snob says:

Can have: Radiohead, Bjork, Prince, David Bowie, Todd Rundgren, 60s 'alternative' bands like Velvet Underground and Nico and anything really trendy and chic as long as it isn't too commercial

Can't have: anything else, especially something that gives you aural pleasure. God forbid that.

Did you notice that our fine friend has The Monkees listed under favourite artists and yet is ripping us for liking what he deems "plastic" music? Odd.
