Favorite musical guest skits on SNL

I know Justin Timberlake is suspect but that Barry Gibb show skit on SNL was one of the funniest SNL skits I have ever seen! The only one funnier than that was the Christopher Walken/Blue Oyster Cult skit "I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!" I lost the little respect I was gaining for him after the whole Superbowl apology crap but he was good in that skit and in that show. Whats your favorite musical guest skit or skit about a musician or band from SNL? Oh yeah the Tracy Morgan Doo doo pie song with Britney Spears was funny as hell too.

1979 (I think): David Bowie doing "Boys Keep Swinging" in a skirt, with Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi doing back-up vocals.

1984: Laurie Anderson in a freakish ski mask and a voice distorter, handing out presents to the audience as she performed.

1989: Prince doing "Electric Chair" on the SNL anniversary show.

1992: Annie Lennox in a tux, doing the most amazingly over-the-top drama queen performance of "Why".

well if youa re talking about live performances of course Stevie Nick's performance of Nightbird from 1983 makes me cry...that was only one of two times she has ever performed that song live and it was written for her best friend robin who had died just a few months earlier of Leukemia...Stevie said it was too difficult to perform the song live but this was so touching...hence why my favorite on SNL.

Dana Carvey did a surprisingly good impersonation of Frank Zappa in a PMRC skit once.

The late Phil Hartman's Sinatra chat show skits were hilarious, especially with Chris Rock playing Luke.

And of course . . .

That damn Will Ferrell as Goulet. Because when a professional gets his mitts on a song that's when it really takes off.

Will Ferrel's Goulet sketches were one of the only reasons I kept watching SNL.

He wore the skirt when he did TVC15, not Boys Keep Swinging.
It was in fact a stewardess outfit.

It was just a one time thing, they were both very drunk and it didn't mean anything.
Sting was thinking of Trudy the whole time.

falloff

See namepeace's post.

It was like talk show with Frank Sinatra hosting and 4 celebrity guests. Chris Rock was Luke from 2Live Crew and Sinatra couldn't understand a thing he was saying. Someone played Sinead Oconor, Sting was Billy Idol and had the lip going the whole time! I have it on tape somewhere.

Remember when Hammer was the host AND musical guest in 1991 after the release of that 2 Legit 2 Quit album - those were actually hilarious..

Hammer as Wilt Chamberlain
Hammer being dissed by receptionist (David Spade) "And you arrre?..."

There's an SNL skit with Will Ferrell doing Neil Diamond. You'd have to know what I'm talking about, there's NO explaining it. It's HILARIOUS.

Another is the Aerosmith's Greatest Hits album. All the songs are a mixture of Cryin', Crazy, and Amazing. (Cuz all three of those songs sound the same)
