I just thought maybe you can not read it, let me know and maybe I should just post it all together I just didnt want to take up space! Or I can email it to you! confused

thank you for that! i am already a member at the times so i just logged in. it may be a pain for the others to read it if they don't already have an ID. the only thing i didn't like about the article was the bit where the author mentions janet's declining career, or fading career or something to that effect. it was right in the first paragraph (i think). it seems funny how people put spin on things. i mean, let's face it, all for you had one of her most successful first week sales ever (if not the most successful first week sales). just in US sales alone, ol' girl went 3x platinum. and that was only off of 3 singles. not too shabby. it really is a sad state of affairs when an artist has to sell 10 million copies just to be considered hot. in the day of kazaa, winmx and limewire, 3 million US copies sold is pretty damn successful. nod the rest of the article was pretty on point, though. thanks for the link!

so, the latest with janet is:

positions for "Just A Little While" on each of Billboard's singles charts for the week ending February 28, 2004:

Hot 100: 47 to 45*
Hot 100 Airplay: 48 to 48*
Top 40 Tracks: 25 to 22*
Top 40 Mainstream: 29 to 21*
Adult Top 40: Debuts at 39*
Dance Radio Airplay: 22 to 18*

there is a rumour floating around that the next single will be the kanye west produced 'have your way with me'. supposedly this will be out soon...hmmmm...don't know if i believe it at this point.

also, according to entertainment tonight and people magazine, lena horne does not want janet jackson portraying her in the biopic of her life. she wants someone with a better image.

Oh, I'm definitely in! It sounds like so much fun!

well, as things unfold...tour info, ticket sales, travel finances, etc...i will keep you posted. for the last tour i had a janet 'live in hawaii' party which was part dance party and part viewing party...it was so much fun. a lot of people who are not janet fans came and even they had a great time! oh, and yeah, i'm gonna order tickets through miss janet but i'm also gonna try to get first row from ticket agencies if the club doesn't get me that close. this ain't no joke...i'm getting picked on stage this time! LOL

Okay, thanks. I'm planning on getting as close as possible, too, but if Miss-Janet is selling VIP backstage passes, I'm definitely going to go with those. This is the first tour year that I belong to the fanclub in, but don't they usually have first row seats available?

Rumor: Janet coming out with Lingerie and Body Jewelry Line

It's on some different Janet forums, Entertainment Tonight, and radio stations all over the country that Janet is coming out with her own lingerie and nipple-ring line. Do you think this could be true, and the Superbowl incident was a plan to promote it, or do you think this is just a rumor in the wake of Nipplegate?

Yeah, ok, I think we all have to admit that it isn't doing too well now. It's performing in a similar manner to "American Life". My local radio station (well, one of them) played it today and after they finished the announcers were laughing their asses off at it. "This sounds like a commercial jingle for some two-bit restaurant chain in southern Texas." Remember how I said it sounds like a Mentos commercial? Guess it wasn't just me.

Anyway, they spent literally 5 minutes dissing it. Not a very good reception at all.

Either way, I consider that a pretty crass cash-in and I'd like to think Janet is above that sort of thing.

sad I know. I like the song and everything; it's cute. But cute doesn't make it a good song. I'm disappointed in Janet, and I expected so much more. I still have my head up that this album is going to be great though. Gotta keep the faith!

I'm kind of worried now. If she fails to reach the top 40 (conceivable in this radio climate), the media will have an absolute field day and the album might not do so well as a result. First singles mean a great deal in today's market and, like Madonna, I think she or Virgin picked the wrong one sad.

Virgin STILL has not issued the R&B remix to R&B radio yet, so it registered a gain of only a few dozen spins this week (and will start falling next week) on that format unless they do something and fast.

In fact, on the Billboard airplay chart, the song holds at #48. No movement. Not good sad Even with a 722 spin gain at Mainstream Top 40.

Now I hear that Virgin wants to push a second single ("Have Your Way With Me") already because of the poor reception for this one. I think Janet just needs to cancel her album until a more opportune time. It's clear to me that Virgin has no marketing plan and that this album is going to get poor promotion at most. If I were Janet I would start looking for another label to promote my material. The Superbowl is the only inkling that she has anything new to promote.

I'm a devoted Janet fan, and I've been able to relate to her so much throughout the years. I can always put Janet on and feel better, always, so I'm going to support Janet no matter what. I don't know what they were thinking putting this song out as a first single. The All For You album, though I now love it, is by far my least favorite of Janet's albums (excluding Dream Street), but the song "All For You" was still a great song and a great first single. So far, Damita Jo doesn't even have a good first song! I'm getting a little bit worried, too, about this album. But, like I said, I'm gonna keep the faith!

Me too. I kinda wish they'd plumb the depths of All For You and release "Come On Get Up" as the first single for this album, lol wink

well, yeah, the osng is not doing as great as other janet singles. but niether did got til its gone and velvet rope did just fine. i'm not gonna worry. i think the idea of postoning the release is a little crazy. if anything they need to come at us with a massive publicity campaign and give the girl the advertising she needs. i mean, what, she's only their strongest artist, lol! and as for pushing a second single do to poor reception...its not quite like that. according to virgin, just a little while was not supposed to be the first single but it leaked so they went with it. kanye west has said that the first single is the one he produced, and even up to a few days ago virgin was holdong to the idea that something else would be released. my guess is that since it it leaked and word was good they took the chance. oh well, t didn't pan out quite as they had planned. i don't think its a biggie, as long as they push this cd it will do fine.

Gotta include this in the new Janet info. Hear "I Want You" (which is probably the rumoured "Have Your Way With Me"). Not bad and slightly better than the first single. Check it out!

I know. I don't care if she sells two records; I'm a fan no matter what, but I'm not as crazy over the song as I was over any of her first-released singles. I didn't care that "Got 'Til it's Gone" wasn't a smash hit; it was incredible anyway.

As for "I Want You", I absolutely LOVE it! It's so awesome, and I can relate to it right now. I said this in the other thread about it, but my girl J always knows what I'm going through and that's why I love her to death!

Janet captivates me because she's a loving and realistic person. I can identify with her music and I just love her voice, production, music, persona and charisma. I officially declared my fandom with TVR in '97 and haven't looked back since. It's cute to have a record top the charts and all, but a top 40 position does not a good record make.

A lot of people are having fun bashing "Just A Little While" because it's pure confection pop. We're in the krunk/thug/scorned-lover era of mainstream urban music. Everything has to have that hard/dark egde to it or it's garbage -- especially on urban radio (of course, they're not going to embrace JALW, that's not Janet's problem). As far as kids dissing JALW on pop radio -- if there's room for "Toxic" to do damage on the charts then Janet's track can co-exist as well.

Consider this: JALW released in 1997 at the beginning of the teen pop explosion - would have gone to #1. It will be lucky to hit the top 40 as it is.

TVR album of th year (2004)? Really? I don't think so. I think it is all about hip hop and it seems like wuss rock is coming back too. I think the big problem with TVR (as far as selling) was that it was filled with sexy soul, fun dance funky pop and some really smart/personal stuff. It was almost too smart for people. Certinatly smart than half the shit out now. For example, "Yeah" and "Slow Jamz". The album of the past 6 months has been Outkast's album, which is fun and funky and has some cleaver songs but really doesn't sound or have the theme of TVR. I think TVR would have done even worse if it was released now (unless you put Lil' John remixes everywhere).
