official 'new janet info' thread

maybe this is not news to everyone but i figured i'd post it for those who don't know. there is a song called 'beautiful' that hs been listed as the new single from janet. this info comes from australia so whether it will be released in the states as a single is anyone's guess. there are also some collaborations on the new cd that i think most people are unaware of so i wanted to list them here. in addition to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis the album has collaborations with Babyface, Rich Harrison, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and Kanye West, among other artists. i'm curious to know, with a list like that, who the 'other artists' are. several people at radio and in the business have said this is a straight out pop record. in this day, i'm not quite sure what that means but with all those people working together it looks like this cd has great possibilities!

I'm looking forward to Gwen's contributions. It was inevitable she and Missy were going to collaborate, since Missy has so much love for her. I've already reserved several copies and I'm saving money for the tours.

check out the new Janet photo from the Vanity Fair

"With the spring release of her new album in three years and the little role in ABC's 2005 biopic Lena, based on the life of Lena Horne and featuring Janet's interpretations of classic songs such as "Stormy Weather" and "Just One Of Those Things", she can expect the paparazzi to swar, ever closer. But thankfully not as close as those following the other Jackson drama-you know, the one playing on Court TV."

U should check out Rhythmnation.com that picture is really nice!

as of friday, february 13, 2004 janet may attend NBA all-star game. janet is supposed to attend sunday evening's NBA All-Star game and "may even perform," US Weekly editor Ken Baker told Extra. her attendance at the game has not been officially announced and at this point is just a rumor. The NBA All-Star game will air on TNT this Sunday, February 15, at 8:00 P.M. EST. another appearance will be tomorrow...both Janet and Michael will attend the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network's Los Angeles Hip-Hop Summit on Saturday, February 14, according to an AllHipHop.com report. the summit is free to anyone that registers to vote and will be held at the University of Southern California.

and, on the music front...

'Just A Little While' Canadian single release date has been announced. the Just A Little While Canadian CD single will be commercially released on 16 March according to the Virgin Music Canada website. Generally, commercial singles that are released in Canada are also released in the United States. However, at this point it is unknown if there will be a US single release.

'Damita Jo' UK release date has also been officially announced (although we all kinda assumed this one already) Janet's new album will be released in the United Kingdom on 29 March according to The Raft, Virgin Record's official UK website.

Actually, I'm a California voter (and native). I'm just attending college in the midwest -- that's the problem. It just seems like all the cool things happen while I'm away at school and then when I get back home... nothing. Boo hoo 4 me, I guess.

so more news...

while visiting jj.com, i found this quote from john legend's website...

But you can't talk about the Super Bowl without talking about Ms. Jackson. I'm not going to focus on her breast like the rest of y'all. I'm about the music. Since everyone's paying attention to her, it should bode well for her next single "Have Your Way With Me" which is gonna drop next week. We're just wrapping up the production now. It's produced by Kanye West and co-written by Kanye, Harold Lilly and yours truly. I played some piano on there too. It's a sweet, soulful song. I think it'll be a smash. Look out for that soon.

this post is from last week. obviously, that single did not come out yet but my guess would be it is sitting on the side waiting to be released after all this hype about the super bowl dies a bit.

So Janet had nothing to do with the writing/producing of her new single? That doesn't sound right but if she approved it, it can't be that bad. Wonder what "Beautiful" sounds like?
I need more Janet info!

well, as things unfold...tour info, ticket sales, travel finances, etc...i will keep you posted. for the last tour i had a janet 'live in hawaii' party which was part dance party and part viewing party...it was so much fun. a lot of people who are not janet fans came and even they had a great time! oh, and yeah, i'm gonna order tickets through miss janet but i'm also gonna try to get first row from ticket agencies if the club doesn't get me that close. this ain't no joke...i'm getting picked on stage this time! latest news from virgin records is an announcement that Janet's new album, "Damita Jo" will also be available in a "special limited edition" version. no exact details were given but the information sheet says that the limited edition version will come with exclusive video footage, images, and remixes.

I hope there's a bonus remix disc. I really have never been into "extra content" like videos and photo galleries. Watch it once, be underwhelmed.

i tend to agree. i think usually there is one or two bits that are interesting and the rest is disposable. honestly, i don't ned to hear janet jackson demos, lol. if the extra material is behind the scenes of the choreography and stuff like that, though, i'll love it!

And one more request, Virgin: NO COPY CONTROL ON CANADIAN DISCS mad

I'm tired of having to order US imports just so I can escape the hassle of getting around the technology (which often involves marking up the CD).
