Kelis!

Tasty is my favorite record at the moment,
this girl is so cool and talented. I have to
admit I had not heard anything from her until the
infamous 'Milkshake' which is the worst song of
the disc imo

I love songs like 'Millionaire', 'Trick me', 'In public',
..., damn the whole album is excellent!

so, Who else likes Kelis?

I love the album (with the exception of "In Public" and "Milkshake", the first two singles).

Well, FINALLY!

Goddamn!

Someone on here actually likes Kelis. I don't understand why everybody's hating on her. I really don't. "Milkshake" is not a bad tune, in fact it's pretty catchy. And, no, it does not sound like "Nasty Girl" as much as it sounds like some of the beats from P's "Lovesexy" album.

Anyways, I was in a record shop one day and I overheard this album. I didn't recognize it, but then I heard Andre 3000 on a track. Then I figured out that it was Kelis. And damn, that's a mighty fine album that I was overhearing, if you ask me.

By the way, this is my 2,800th post. Can't stop the music now. giggle

Thanks for starting this thread, I was afraid to. smile

I just picked up her album this week and yes it is awesome!!

I like the whole vibe of the album, though it may be sugary at times, I think that's the concept of the entire record. Yeah, it's some funky stuff and the keyboard grooves throughout the whole record has me delighted, especially the sounds on 'Millionare'. thumbs up!

Am i missing something? I have been completely untouched by her music. I haven't even considered giving this album a listen cuz I didn't think her first album was anything special. I guess I tend to be attracted to voices and hers just sounds average to me...

You're not missing a thing. IMO - it's total trash, especially that silly Milkshake video. Absolutely horrible.

I didn't even think that Milkshake was all that great musically. I feel like I'm supposed to like her, especially based on her first album cover, but I just can't get with it. She's hot as hell tho nod

Kelis has the best R&B album out at the current moment. I've been jamming Tasty since its release (12/9/03) and it hasn't left my CD player. Great record. Standouts include Attention, Millionaire, Glow, Rolling Through The Hood, Marathon, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Trick Me and Keep It Down.

She surprised me by collaborating with Saadiq. He still has the grooves. I wanted more sociopolitical tracks on this LP (a la Mr. UFO Man, Little Suzie, Ghetto Children of prior LPs), but I will still put the stamp of approval on this project.

we are supposed 2 like her no matter who u r. Just like Madonna Michael Jackson & Prince. U have to like something by them no matter what (to superfunkaorgan). Plus she is pro-gay. I read in a mag that she b going to all teh gay clubs with her gay friends and enjoy them more than her straight friends. That was cool.

I have to play "Sugar Honey Iced Tea" now..excuse me..
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

to me her music seriously lacks longevity. Repeated listens are really tiresome. Nice production tricks here and there, but that's all they are; repeated tricks. The music doesn't sound cohesive/whole.

I think "Trick Me" is supposed to be the new single (the new video for sure). I prefer it to "In Public", which isn't bad either.
