I'm still amazed anyone can play Milkshake more than once and not doze off. Good cure for insomnia to me.

I know. Very boring.

"My milkshake brings all the boys to the yahd..." (repeat x 10) is pretty much what passes for lyrics here.

mad Oh, for fucks's sake, no it does not sound like "Nasty Girl". It sounds more like them beats on the "Lovesexy" album. Some of y'all need to have your ears cleaned out or something. lol

I can hear the "Nasty Girl" sound in "Milkshake". The drum pattern is similiar.I bet a DJ could easily mix these two songs together.

No, way, man. I think a better comparison would be to the sounds of Prince's "Lovesexy" beats, like I said earlier. But it does not sound like no "Nasty Girl".

David:eye: it's interesting you say that because I was in a club months ago and the DJ started playing an acapella of "Milkshake" and mixed in none other than "Nasty Girl." It was cool. I can definitely see how people can compare to it to Vanity 6's original.

The two songs would mix really well. That Pharrell loves the early 80's Prince beat.

The lyrics and theme (but not really in sound) of "Milkshake" remind me a lot of Donna Summer's "If You Got It Flaunt It" (from "Once Upon A Time...", which is by far the funkiest thing Donna has ever done. Wonder if that was the insipiration for this song? Here are the lyrics. And keep in mind they don't include a lot of hte ad libs she shouts while the background singers do the chorus (on this song, her real sisters). Got check out this album just for this track and you'll find some amazing sutff.

Just look at you
There in the miroor
You'll never compete with the others!
Why, look at the way you're dressed!
Come on now, get yourself together!

Baby if you got it
You have got to flaunt it now
Baby if you flaunt it
You can make them want it now baby
Yes, I got it
And I'm gonna flaunt it now
Gonna make him want it
Yeah I'm gonna flaunt it now

Sister thinks she's got it
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)

Sister thinks she's got it
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)

Sister thinks she's got it
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)

All you catty creatures,
I've got my better features too
So step aside you leeches,
I'm gonna teach a little trick to you

Baby if you got it
You had better flaunt it now
Baby if you flaunt it
You can make him want it now
Baby yes, I got it
And I'm gonna flaunt it now
Gonna make him want it
'Cause I'm gonna flaunt it now

Sister thinks she's got it,
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)
Sister thinks she's got it,
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)
Sister thinks she's got it,
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)

All you catty creatures
I've got my better features too
Step aside you leeches
'Cause I can teach a trick to you

I can teach you how to walk and talk
How to hold you head high
And I can flaunt my stuff as good as anybody else
I can shake my hip, or my thigh
I'll make you wanna run someplace and hide
'Cause I got it, and I'm gonna flaunt it

Sister thinks she's got it
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)
Sister thinks she's got it
And she's gonna flaunt it now
(Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?)

All you catty creatures
You've gotta get out of my way right now
Step aside all you leeches
I've got a trick and I'll show you how

Spoken:
Anyways, I'll teach you a trick or two

"Once Upon A Time" was a concept album basically built around her gay audience. Definitely not in the same lyrical league as "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.....I could teach you, but I'd have to charge". "If You Got It, Flaunt It" is full-on camp. Other songs like "Fairy Tale High" and "Queen For A Day" are in the same vein.

Maybe if you compared it to "Bad Girls" I'd understand, but at least that was tasteful and a great record. Unlike "Milkshake".
