When the high school in my town did the show "Annie Get Your Gun" someone made a big deal about that, which i can kinda understand. But I think the Andre performance was meant to be light hearted and fun and it seems like people are really reading into things that aren't really there (the "Hey Ya"+American INdian theme=racism) but that's just my 2 cents.

i love it. america- land of the offended. that should be our new slogan.

what i don't understand is, they're after outkast's "negative portrayal", and "ernest goes to camp" is replayed in syndication all over the us, and has been for 2 weeks now. you want an inaccurate portrayal of native americans? watch that movie. a bunch of kids get "war-painted" by an old indian chief (ironically enough, played by iron eyes cody, who is possibly not even native american at all), and then go ahead and wreak hell on a construction company. thats some sick shit. poor andre. motherfuckers just don't know how to pick their battles.

wait a minute- i got an idea. let's just have prince be the worldwide censor. anything possibly offensive should go through him. shit. thats a terrible idea, now that i think about it. every show, movie or song would feature larry g, and i don't think there's nearly enough funk (read: crappy, brainwashing old man) in his shoes for that.
now i know what this is all about. now i know exactly what i am.

What if Native American ancestry predominates Dre's family tree? Just because he "looks black" doesn't mean he's "totally black."

But, it's easier, most of the time, to have a knee-jerk reaction.

When such groups -- including black ones -- move so quickly to cry discrimination over trivial matters, it really lessens the impact of valid complaints rooted in serious prejudice.

The 1/8 Indian or whatever I have in me was not offended. In fact, it rocked along with the other 7/8 of my brown self. The performance slammed. Loved the marching band.

Now, if Geneva had done her windmill dance, they'd have had a case...
