She's got something. Now she could be the next Fiona Apple, here today, gone today, but she has skills.

No hype.

I saw her perform in a pub in Bristol (England) last week. I have seen loads of concerts, and I can say she is amazing for a 16 year old. Her age is evident in her interaction with the audience in between songs. But when she sings she is way beyond her years. Her band is real tight too. I suspect this will be the only tour we get to see her in 400 capacity venues. This video footage is cool, but seems really toned down & less powerful than the actual gig. In concert she threw in some new tracks too, which unlike the tracks on her first album, she had co-written with friends. They were great too. One was particularly funky.

Enjoy the show & let us know what you think.

I'm feeling her...her video has been playing in the background while I work and then I finally turned around and saw this little white girl and I was like, "what?..." Then I discovered she was only 16 and my jaw dropped. I can't wait to see her live and see how good/or bad she is. But I agree talented people disappear quickly, the masses usually don't get into it and they are dropped from their label unfortunately.

Peace, Serveitupfrankie*

Thanx for the link!

I already have the cd, and I'm really enjoying it. She is just as precious as she can be, with that plump lil baby face talking about she's "the choking kind"!- that's okay, because when I was her age I was precocious enough to think that I was "the choking kind", too, lol!But anyway, I really get a kick out of seeing someone so young (and from all the way in ENGLAND!?!) devote herself to the music of my childhood- I'm about ready to send a copy of this to my retired mom at home in the US, so she can groove to it while she's cleaning the house...

When Joss rolls through Europe, I will definitely go and see her, because for me it's all about encouraging these young people to keep music alive; I don't care where she's from...

BTW, was that Pino Palladino on bass in the station clip?

all I know about her is her White Stripes cover (which I kinda like, if you can forget about the original) and the fact that everybody is talking about her. Was surprised to find out that she's only 16. Hey, 8 euro concert tickets is a good deal!
Even better: Franz Ferdinand performs at the same venue (Paradiso, Amsterdam) just before her!

Forget considering how old she is... would you actually dig her whole vibe then?

you talkin' to me? Actually, yes I would. I heard her on the radio not knowing who she was, and liked it. Later I found out about her age.

I actually have that CD. Fiona's crazy talented, but as far as the rest of the world is concerned she's a one-hit wonder. Whether Joss will blow up or just be another talented footnote in music history has yet to be seen.

Well since you don't like this new girl, any suggestions on what female singer is worth checking out since I'm out of the country? I managed to pick up on J.S. because, living in Europe, the musical landscape is influenced by the Brittish as much as (if not more than) the Americans. I'm a true music lover and like to try and hear a little bit of everything if I can, so reccomendations from home are always encouraged and appreciated-

Thanx!
