*Who* is actually singing on TOXIC?

Cuz it ain't Britney--it sounds like a person that can actually sing. Ok the versus are her -that was my zinger...but the chorus is sooo not Britney. Her voice is embedded somewhere...

I have to say the song is growing on me though.

Cathy Dennis did "background" vocals. You can plainly hear her voice in the chorus, the "intoxicate me now, with your loving now, I think I'm ready now" refrain and the "too high, coming undone, it's in the air and it's all around, can you feel me now?" refrain. What I think they did is overlayed Cathy's vocals on Britney's so it had the effect of smoothing out Britney's awful voice and making it sound good for once. It really does sound like 2 superimposed vocal tracks in some areas.

Every time Britney sings "You're toxic, I'm slipping under. With a taste of a poison paradise..." it's Cathy.

But yes, the verses are 100% Britney. And that's why they 100% suck. The chorus is the reason this song works.

The sad thing is it's never Britney alone. It's Britney with computer manipulation to improve on her voice, which obviously needs LOTS of help, because it STILL sounds crappy.

She is definetly getting a lot of help on the background vocals. Lots of studio trickery and multiple voicings, and help, I'm sure of better female singers, who remain in the shadows, while Britney takes all the bows. Bitch...lol

Man, when is Britney's career going to be over??? She's already lasted waaaay too long for someone of her (lack of) talent.

The sooner she finishes up her "singing" career, the sooner her Playboy "modeling" career can begin! wink

I don't know what you are all talking about? I think the vocals are awful on "Toxic" and very processed. While Cathy is credited with backgrounds, she certaintly don't sound that great.

Correction: Cathy alone sounds great. I guarantee this song would sound 1000% better in her hands.

ANYONE with Britney is doomed.
