What's Up With The Grammys audience?

I am sorry if this topic's been discussed already but I am so sick of the industry people in the audience of the Grammys. Most of them were like "this is so below me", others couldn't pay props when props were due. No standing O for Luther, but one for Beyonce? Luther, who is one of the best crooners on the planet? I just can't get over how 12000 people speak for all of us in the first place. I think a little respect is due to us as we have paid motherfuckers' rent for years. Big ups to Samuel L. Jackson for being the only person there with a pulse, as the Sun-times put it.

This was my first year watching it in about five years and the audience sucked then, too. I would have rather they stayed at home and filled the audience with fans who would have really appreciated the performances.

It sorta bothers me when bands try to get a comatose audience all involved, ordering them to "sing, standup, clap your hands." If an audience isn't feeling the music, they're just not feeling it. Okay, some people might go along with it, and fake the funk, but that to me seems patronizing.

I think the problem is what you see on TV is actually not what happens. They only show the seats down front, and those people do seem to be quite comatose. However. . .I was actually there at the Grammys and I noticed that the folks in the floor seats seemed to be ASLEEP, while everyone else was up, on their feet and rocking. My sister and I had seats in the "lower bowl" of the Staples Center, and folks were up, dancing and singing, giving standing ovations, etc. when everyone on the floor was not.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Give the good seats to the fans who are actually there to celebrate and party and not sit around like they're bored to death.

oh DAMN, i hate this too!

i hate when a performer tries to get the audience to participate, then gets all aggressive about it and comes out in the audience and forces people to dance or clap or sing or whatever the hell they want us to do -

- i'm like, *I* paid to see *YOU* perform, fool! not the other way around!!!

oh, i hate that. why do performers DO that? just show your art, maybe we don't wanna appreciate it by dancing around and whooping, ok?
