Call me crazy but my wife and I were up watching Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party until 4:00am NYC time. Amazing how you can watch this events now online instantaneously. Only negative was the 12:30 EST start that was announced and the party didn't start getting broadcast until 1:25 am with no delay announcement.

Some highlights:

Jamie Foxx- Nice voice and he dropped a couple line from Prince's "Do Me Baby" into his song. He said that tonight is has officially made it to the music business.

Maroon 5- Some new funky cats. Rob Thomas guested with them.

Annie Lennox- Awesome voice with penetrating songs.

Johnny Mathis- Classy and timeless. I love "Chances Are".

Earth, Wind and Fire- This is what funk and R&B is really about. Phillip Bailey gets the MVP for best vocals of the night.

Alicia Keys- Nice finale as she sang with members of the Stylistics, The Moments (Ray, Goodman, Brown), Patti LaBelle, and Angie Stone. The best part was Jamie Foxx freestyling with the two sistas from his front-row seat and then stepping up onstage to sang with them. Jamie was dancing on the risque lyrics but not overboard ( think Alicia may have been wary of this). Foxx improved and stole the show. Funny little tidbit at the beginning of Alicia,s set was her asking Jamie Foxx to come up and fix the keyboard.

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were in the audience. much love to Clive Davis.
