CD SPOTLIGHT: Alana Davis - Blame It On Me (1997) Blame It On Me (1997) Alana Davis I love this album. Wonderful bedtime music, too. I bought this album after buying "Fortune Cookies" (which I also love) a few years ago. Blame It On Me is an expressionistic charmer that only grows with beauty each time it is played. I discover so many new and contrastive ways to look at each song when I listen to them. Every song on this album is my favorite and I listen to it from "32 Flavors" until "Blame It On Me" and then press play and listen to it again. I don't know why I didn't get this album any sooner, but I'm glad I got it now. Don't make the same mistake, buy or listen to this album today. Oh yeah, can I just say that "Crazy" is my anthem. "Lullaby" is midnight bliss. "Weight of the World" sparkles with its lush instrumentation. "One Day" restores my faith in love. The title track is one of the most beautiful musical moments of the '90s. I also love "Lullaby," that is the song...oh god, see, I can go on and on!

I bought this record because of "32 Flavors", which then led me to get into Ani DiFranco's work. This record is indeed incredible. I remember that she did a live broadcast from her performance here in ATL, I recorded it - it was just incredible. So. the $24 question: WHERE SHE AT NOW? otan said: So. the $24 question: WHERE SHE AT NOW? Alana Davis Returns to Studio to Record New Album Alana is currently in the studio in Los Angeles working on her new album. She moved there earlier this year after growing up and living her life in New York. Instead of accepting one of the major label deals which were recently offered, Alana has decided to move forward and record the album with her own funds. After dropping her previous label, Elektra, Alana felt that recording this new album independently is the kind of experience she needed. About her break from Elektra and into her own label, Alana commented, "Frankly, I'm excited about being my own CEO. It's inspiring to know that there are others who understand my plight. Partnering with people who share my vision and are willing to think outside of the box will help create the new music model that so needs to take form.¬†Change, I feel, is always good." The self-titled album will be comprised of twelve brand new songs and will be completed in early January. The album will feature world class musicians Drummer, Nir Z (John Mayer), bassist, Jack Daley (Lenny Kravitz) and Adam Rogers (Norah Jones) all played on Blame It On Me and Fortune Cookies. Unlike the other two records, the new album will be entirely produced by Alana. "To me, a huge part of the music‚ magic is how it is elevated through conversation, collaboration and connection with fellow musicians." To ignore this facet in order to get the perfect tracks, vocals, guitars, whatever, takes away a lot of the feeling for me. I am excited to put great people in a room and hear their natural connection my material. I think with the magic in the stew, the flavor will bedelicious" Alana strongly believes that there is a better alternative to the traditional major label system. Over the past few months, Alana has met with joint venture partners, strategic marketing partners, retailers and distributors concerning her new release. The response has been remarkably positive and we will announce the official release information in January. We hope to have photos from the studio very soon and new music samples in the next month or so.

Peace, Serveitupfrankie* I'm living in a basement flat, in a quiet part of town. I bet you wonder where my head is at when I'm imagining all this sounddd. ...and I'm balanced on the brink! Love the lyrics. Love the troubled piano ending. It sounds so sinister and dark. Love to hear it live.
