I Kinda Feel Bad 4 Not Knowing Melba Moore Mo' Than I Should

I saw a VERY old brief interview of Kashif talking about Melba Moore being his favorite singer and then they've shown clip from her video "Love Me Right".

Could some-fan school me about the sistah?

Old school. with big hits in the 70's (You Stepped Into My Life) and the 80's (Falling). Maybe even a hit or two in the 60's but I wasn't hip to her then. I think her heart is with Broadway. The album releases were always secondary. Last thing I heard, she's still doing her thing on stage.

This is so weird I see this topic right after watching "Fighting Temptations." She played in the choir in the film and had a good voice. Check her out in that film, if you haven't already.

She currently has a DVD out, check your local Tower Records. She suffers from some kind of condition, like Cerbal Palsy (or something else) but is still performing.

I remember that she fell on hard times (maybe this was the 80s?) and even had to go on public assistance.

Melba Moore is very underrated. She's a superb vocalist and she's had numerous hits in the 70s and 80s...

"This Is It" (1976)
"You Stepped Into My Life" (1978)
"Pick Me Up,I'll Dance" (1979)
"Love's Comin At Cha" (1982)
"Mind Up Tonight" (1982)
"Keepin My Lover Satisfied" (1983)
"Livin For Your Love" (1984)
"Just A Little Bit More" with Freddy Jackson (1986)
"Falling" (1987)

I tend to prefer her Kashif-produced hits. She started working with him in 1982 and spent much of the decade scoring one hit after another. In 1985,she even went in a rock direction with the song "Read My Lips".
