Pepsi desecrates the memory of Jimi Hendrix.

Anyone catch that Pepsi commercial, that depicts a young James Marshall Hendrix, drinking Pepsi, and while seeing a guitar in a pawn shop window, gets the muse for guitar.

Sick exploitation of Jimi's memory by a greedy public. Sure, it seemed cute, but the Jimi Hendrix estate should be ashamed. jimi's father sold his son's soul to corporate america.

Those songs mean something, not "buy our shitty sugar water." I for one am appalled.

stfu Pepsi.

exactly. pepsi ain't descratin anything--the hendrix family is, since they allowed jimi's likeness to pitch their product for mere profits. if you wanna get all pissy at somebody, get pissy at them.

anyway, i haven't seen the commercial but it's disappointing from the sound of it. disbelief

I ain't even feelin' that. shake
The family is entitled reap whatever they can.
Pimp-ass labels, promoters and agents pimp have ripped Jimi's music off for so long without paying his estate their due. Muggs is just getting paid. Not like there's any new Jimi music comin' forth. Don't hate the playas; hate the game.

As a Hendrix fan for almost 20 of my 30-somethin' years, I gotta say it:

Folks are getting way too serious about this ad. The commercial was hilarious! If anything, when I saw this little, curly haired black kid looking up at a Telecaster in a pawn shop window, my first thought was, "An commercial about Prince as a kid?"

At any rate, how often do commercials focus on the life decisions of a young black male, and not carry a message about at-risk behavior? It was refreshing.

And more power to the Hendrix family for approving (and getting PAID for, I'm sure) a funny commercial that actually underscores Jimi's status as a rock legend and pioneer.

I thought it was a good commercial. There was absolutely no desecration involved, so everyone should calm down.
