Janet Invited BACK to Grammys... under one condition

Janet, Justin Invited Back to Grammys
http://www.foxnews.com/pr...31,00.html

Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake have been invited back to Sunday’s Grammy telecast on CBS.

The only proviso: each of them must issue a one-sentence apology on screen about their actions at the Super Bowl half time show last Sunday.

So far, the Grammy production company and CBS is waiting to see if one or both of the pop stars will accept these conditions, my sources tell me.

Of course, the pair will not appear together. I am told that Timberlake is furious with Jackson about the scandal involving her bared breast.

“He really thought she would have something on underneath when he pulled her top,” my source said.

Whether or not you believe that is a personal matter. Personally, this reporter does not care.

But Janet’s boyfriend, producer Jermaine Dupri, obviously does. To protest Jackson’s expulsion from the Grammy show, Dupri resigned from the Atlanta chapter of NARAS, the Grammy group, yesterday.

“We want Janet and Justin on the show,” a Grammy insider told me last night at the MusiCares dinner for Sting which was held at Sony’s Culver City studios. “It’s CBS that’s paranoid and causing all the trouble. The negotiating goes on and on.”

Will Janet and Justin apologize and appear on the show? My gut instinct says yes, but you never know.

In the meantime, dozens of pop stars and actors convened last night for the Sting dinner including Dustin Hoffman, Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas, Bob Geldof, Tony Bennett, Elvis Costello (without new wife Diana Krall), Sarah Maclachlan, Herb Alpert, Herbie Hancock, Nile Rodgers, Wynonna, and the Black Eyed Peas.

I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow. I did leave Sting, wife Trudie Styler, Griffith and Banderas, and Geldof dancing the night away at 2:30 a.m. PST at the ultra-hip, tiny 40 Deuce Club, however, celebrating Sting’s big night and enjoying the Disney-esque burlesque of faux strippers and a hot retro jazz band. In case you were wondering, Sting and Styler are as incorrigible as teenagers; Griffith and Banderas were stiff as chaperones at a junior high school dance. Go figure!

Neverland Raid: Jacko Cried

I guess former Michael Jackson manager Dieter Wiesner has given a TV interview airing Sunday night regarding the day Neverland was raided by the police.

Let me tell you what I know.

According to my sources, Jackson — who was in Las Vegas and clueless that the raid was imminent — cried when he was told about the search warrant.

“He was very down at first,” my source says, “but after four hours or so, with the helicopters circling and press calling, he toughened up. He said, let’s bring [the accuser] into a room to face me, with photographers present. Then he will have to tell the truth.”

My source also claims that two of the computers seized at Neverland were brand new and never used. They’d been purchased by Wiesner and had no information on them.

More to come, without a doubt, as Jackson is said to be considering some kind of weekend appearance at a Grammy festivity. I know which one, but why spoil the fun? In the meantime, Michael is said to have been traveling around the Los Angeles area with brother Randy Jackson, not to be confused with "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson.

This is so ridiculous. Janet already apologized. How many times do they want her to say she's sorry. Enough already and Timberlake is such a pussy.

ok. its too much now. what do they want from a woman who has already said she's sorry for offending. they want her to beg and plead for forgiveness and you know what...she doesn't need it. her song is number one in canada, it debuted at number 36 on the us pop radio charts and it is number 7 with a bullet on the dance charts. all this after less than 1 week in release. it is the most added song to radio. billboard has already called it her next hit song.

no. she should not go to the awards at this point. she needs to show them that her success is not dependent on the association's acceptance...only the fans' love.

No, her song isn't #1 in Canada. I'm sure it will be if there's a single release, but since Canadian charts are based solely on singles sales and not airplay, that's really an impossiblity at this point.

#1 right now is - you guessed it - "Hey Ya!"

http://www.canoe.ca/JamMu...NGLES.html

Additionally, you state that "Just A Little While" is at #7 on the dance charts - actually, it's "Janet Megamix 2004 (Chris Cox Remix)", and it's at #11, up from #25 last week, and sure to hit #1.

I think the "Just A Little While" remixes are going to be killer, though. I've always loved her maxis. She (or Virgin) put a lot of care into them.

sorry, i meant it is the number one most added song. there is a weekly trade magazine called the CMW (canadian music weekly). it's kind of like the r&r of Canada. this week "just A little while" was the #1 added song to CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio, Top 40) stations and HOT AC (more upbeat adult contemporary).
sorry for the confusion.

Oh, I see, I understand. By the way, SassyBritches, do you by any chance know why they changed the title of the track? "Love Me For A Little While" seemed sexier, and it's the phrase she actually speaks in the song, so the title change seems kind of odd (perhaps to tone down her sex appeal after the SuperBowl incident?).

you know, i'm not sure what's going on there. on the official janet site it is called just a little while. i've also seen it called (love me) just a little while. it was being called love me for a little while before it was 'officially' released so maybe that was just the assumed title. also, peter rauhofer announced on his website that he would be doing the remixes for love me for a little while but that was never official and has since been taken down from his site.

I just wanted to say One thing about Justin and his bitch ass attitude. I think its funny that the image of him pulling the clothes off a woman is ok to him and yet he's sooo upset about Janets tit. It shows how confused we are as a society.

I truly hope more entertainers defend Janet and let Justin know he is a bitch.

you know what...there were over 89 million people watching the superbowl, right? and just over 200,000 complained to the cbs/fcc/whoever. so, what about the other 88,800,000? they apparantly were not offended. so whay are we making a big deal over less than 1% of the viewers?

You're reading a little too much into it. "Love Me For A Little While" was a tentative title, not definite. The title for Janet's forthcoming single was revealed on DJ/Producer Peter Rauhofer's website and he reported it as "Love Me For A Little While."

When Virgin was doing early promotions for the single, it probably had that title adorned on text-only copies of the promo. Titles change all the time. When the "All For You" single first came out it was initially dubbed as "All 4 U," but later scrapped for the title you see today. "I Get Lonely" was refered to as "I Get So Lonely" for a long time (and still is). "Just A Little While" is the final title they're sticking to (and it was reported days before the now-infamous Super Bowl halftime show.

Other artists have also done similiar things. The very first promo for Kelis' first single read "I Hate You So Much Right Now" then it changed to "Caught Out There (I Hate You So Much Right Now!)" then Virgin just dropped the parentheticals all together and ran with "Caught Out There."

Thanks, JanFan, that's interesting. I still think that the title "Just A Little While" is awkward and banal and doesn't really convey much about the song (guess I just preferred option #1). "Love me for a little while" is also a fixture of the chorus, and so would have heightened the association between the song and the title (good for casual radio listeners) and also the "singalong" value.

janet is undecided (as of last night) whether she would attend or not. i am watching the red carpet and there's no sign of her. if she doesn't show up for red carpet, i'll just watch p and beyonce and turn this mess off. i'll check the org for highlights and news, lol.
