Are you too young to know who Patti Austin is? These kids today just don't know how to SING. They need to get some pointers from Patti Austin. She is the forgotten diva (not in my book), with hits like Body Language, How Do you Keep the Music Playing, and sooo many others. Its hard for her make a bad cd.
I just got her 1999 cd Street of Dreams of Standards (I only have Eyes for you, The Look of Love, Someone to Watch over Me). It was $1 at a local used cd store, opened it up and on the inner sleeve it was autographed!! I was so excited even if it was not to me. It says: To Ginny, What the hell am I signing this for you for, sister love? Don't You know me by now? (note to Ginny:thanks for bringing this to the used cd store for me to buy for $1) Wonderful cd. Wonderful Singer. Pick up something of hers if you are into good music. ---------------------------------

I love Patti's vocals on Something Special and Razamatazz from "The Dude". She has a very beautiful song called "Somebody Make Me Laugh" on one of her solo CDs.
Any Patti Austin is good because she always gives you quality in her music.

Patti Austin has a fabulous voice. 'Baby Come To Me' is the song she is probably known best for. I believe she's doing either Gospel or Broadway these days...I cant remember...maybe both! She's wasnt a bad looker either! BIG GIRLZ REPREZENT! Every minute of last night is on my face today....

She had a wonderful cd out last year entitled 'For Ella.' She is just so all-around, its crazy, jazz, pop, r&b, standards. She and Roberta Flack should tour, co-headline. ---------------------------------

"60 Minutes II" profiled her last year. In an in-depth interview about her early beginnings, her 1980s peak and her jazzier, more recent work, Patti proved herself to be gracious, down-to-earth and focused on her craft. She's all class.
"Baby Come to Me," always takes me back to the early '80s and a Texas vacation with my pops. Good stuff! Good stuff!!!

At first I was thinking that "Baby Come To Me" is by Regina Belle (remember her? and that song?) Then I remembered James Ingram, whom she sings with on that song. Then the others started entering my head..."Gettin' Away with Murder" and yes,"Razzamatazz" is the jam...

I have 4 or 5 of her albums, including 2 live ones.
She's great. She has one of the purest voices out there... the tone and pitch are just absolutely perfect. On her live shows, she gets pretty funny too.

Listen to the Michael Jackson song "It's The Falling In Love" (from Off The Wall).Patti sings this song with Michael. She sings the second verse, but she sounds so much like him, most people probably didn't know it was a duet.

Just pulled out my 1994 cd 'That Secret Place'. This cd should be in everyones home.
Ability to Swing Somebody Make Me Laugh Rock Steady Hurry Home Stars In Your Eyes You can listen to whatever is popular if you want, but some cds should not be missed. Check it if you can or I'll send you a copy. We should have a swap group. example: If there were 5 people, for Feb. i would send the other 4 group members a cdr of a cd that I thought was gem. In return, the other members also sent out a cdr of their 'must have' cd to the other 4 members. In the end, i have 4 new cds to listen to. Some I may have never even heard if it were not for you. could be fun, just a thought ---------------------------------

I know Patti Austin through her involvement with Quincy Jones and the cool songs she recorded with James Ingram. She's a great singer but IMO Shirley Murdoch is better.
