Good news for Whitney!! Clive Davies is back at ARISTA

Whitney must be thrilled, that Clive will be back on board at arista (even though she's trying to get out of her 100 million arista deal) and La reid is gone
I hope LA doesn't try and executive produce Mariah's next record now that his at def jam, we all saw "Just Whitney" and Toni braxtons and TLC album, he doesn't know how to work established artists

February 02, 2004
BMG, which is continuing to streamline its operations ahead of a merger with Sony Music, has tapped Clive Davis as chairman/CEO of BMG North America. The restructuring puts the operations of Arista, RCA/J and Jive under the control of Davis, who was most recently chairman/CEO of RCA Music Group.

So now the question is, how is this going to affect Clive's label, J Records? And if the rumor that Prince was trying to work with Clive for his next record contract was true, how would this affect him?

I'm more concerned about what will happen over at J Records than with what will happen to Arista. Clive was a master of management at J, and more artists I like are signed to J. I hope they don't flounder without him. Whitney, well, she's a lost cause. My first step would be to acquiesce to her demands and let her out of her contract.

Whitney is a superstar, I think saying that she is a 'lost cause' is a bit lazy
She can and WILL comeback, her fame and success is based on talent and not 'youth and image"
I think all Whitney needs is another HIT and and new wig all will call it a "comeback"

.

According to some reports...Whitney and Clive had some kind of a falling out a couple years ago. The first that needs to happen is for Clive to put Whit's ass in a rehab and keep her there for a good year and then see what happens. She is an incomparable talent who has just happed to 'fall off' for the moment but with some time off and a strong album in a couple of years...Whitney could make a huge comeback...a boy and dream can't he???

You can never write off an artist like Whitney
Whitney, Mariah, Janet, Madonna will always be the original diva's (the modern diva's) I don't think any female will ever have the same enormous success as these women have had
or be so untouchable.

p.s Imagine the above four women on the same song??
Like "Lady Marmalade" did with those imitators?

If Clive can't bring her back, no one can. I'd make her do a Gospel album.

I'd make her do a dance album. Enough of this R&B. It just don't work for you. It's good but it just doesn't click. I could you imagine Whitney throwin't down some club jams! She has to do some hard dance stuff that is fonky! Hook up With Jimmy and Terry for some stuff. Neptunes? Hell, get all Euro with Metro! Whitney needs to something new and quick. I think that Clive coming back can only be a good thing for her. LA Reid wrote her off as yesterday's news and that just sucked. I think she can still make a hit album.

i think whitney can make another good album, i just don't think she will. i agree with you, i think she is a lost cause. her family has been unable to help. her friends, her label, they were all unsuccessful with helping to straigten her high ass out. i think she should be let out of her obligations and they should cut their losses. if, in the end, whitney does get another hit record she can just let the rest of us eat our words.

I agree...Maddy, Janet, Whit, and Mariah are 4 incomparable talants who have had ups and downs in the last few years (more 'downs' for a couple of them)...but I truly have yet to see any of the current girls prove themselves to be as promising as these 4 superstars to have a long, astronomical successful career!

I completely agree. A singer is lucky to last 3 months in today's age, let alone 20 years.

Whitney had "it" in the 80s, but the fact that she takes 5-6 years to put out bland album after bland album of R&B lite works against her. Personally, I think her voice is shot (listen to the Christmas album). The drugs and cigarettes are responsible for that.
