. "rock & roll is here to stay"... and "hey, hey, my, my... rock & roll can never die"...  ...
it may not be dead, but that shit is barely surviving and hooked on life support at the county hospital on the other side of town...  ...
sure, the classics are still out there doing it: the stones, allmans, springsteen, dylan, steve earle, etc, etc... but these guys have been doing it for a while, and aren't going to be able to do it forever... who's gonna keep it alive..? there are some new rock & rollers out there who kick some ass: white stripes, buckcherry, distillers, vines... but these aren't the rock acts who are tearing up the charts, these days... todays kings of rock: nickleback, creed, puddle of mudd, 3 doors down, and so forth and so on... ain't that some shit right there..? this may be one of the worst line-ups in the history of recorded rock music... ... it's sad, really...
muddy waters once said, "the blues had a baby, and they named it rock & roll" waylon jennings once said, "i've always felt that the blues, rock, and country are just about a step away from each other"... and really, that would be the big difference between the first 2 lists of bands, and the last one... rock has gotten about as far away from it's blues roots as it possibly can, and it's killing it... people got no damn soul, anymore... i'm waiting for the next big revolution... in the meantime  ... they are... i think r&b is doing slightly better than rock with alicia, erykah, angie stone, india and such... but it's just doing slightly better, because the vast majority are still having their music soddomized to death by that piece of shit r. kelly...  ...
