Has anyone heard this rumor that Beyonce refused to be on the cover of Essence with Mary J and Janet because they wanted Janet in the middle?

No, hadn't heard that. But, I bet she refused just to not have to share the spotlight with two lesser singers. J and MJB have had a lot of success, but something tells me Beyonce's trying to shoot for a higher market share. She's way more visible than both of them (y'all, fight the urge to break a JJ joke), so I can understand her wanting to have the center position (if that's really what happened).

Excuse me but Janet is a pop legand, Mary is very respected and quite frankly Beyonce is very good but this album was so damn pushed by radio its hard to tell if it would have had some many hits if people decided by buying singles. the fact is that most of Janet's hits have been determined by sales (I think she has the most gold singles for any female). Beyonce needs to realize that she is still a beginner here and as far as being a big high profile star, believe me even before the Super Bowl that people would have knocked down Beyonce's on her fine ass in order to get a pic of Janet at an event.

To many people, Beyonce has a sort of multimedia super-saturation that seems a bit more consistent than Janet's efforts at ubiquity. So, it's debatable who has what to learn from whom.

Yeah,they mentioned this story on one of our local stations.Apparently,Beyonce feels that SHE is the "hot" star of the moment,and the other two ladies are old news.

the shoot went off without a hitch from i hear, so i think this may just be rumour.

and as far as the 'legend' stuff goes...i'm sorry but you'd be a fool to not think janet jackson is a living legend in the entertainment business. you don't have to like her to see her influence all over younger pop acts.

Right after the Super Bowl, they all headed to L.A. for the photoshoot.
