Stevie's "Journey through the secret life of Plants"

Definition of perfection:

Turn off the lights, realx in your lazyboy chair, kick out your partner / lover / bit on the side, close your eyes and immerse yourself in the genious that is:

Stevie Wonders "Journey through the secret life of Plants".

You won't regret it. You will be transported to a different time and place.

P.S This can also work with Lovesexy, Blue (Joni Mitchell) and Low (Bowie).

Try it to Scott Walker's "Tilt" instead.

Thanks I will try. So far this album hasn't touched me.
You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Leaving myself open to be shot down, but never heard of him or his music. Always open to experience new music, tell me more!

Is "Send One Your Love" on this album? I think that's the only song I have heard off of it.

I've heard most people recommend all of 70s Stevie except "Journey Through The Secret Life of Plants" being the grand exception. It's not for everyone.

But I think it might be for me. wink

Yes,"Send One Your Love" is on this album. That's the only real hit single from this project. It's a very eclectic,non-commercial and largely instrumental album. You gotta check it out.

btw,I don't even have this album on CD.I have an old vinyl copy.

IMHO, this is the most proflific album in all of Stevie's career. Sure the man was already noted as a genius prior to this release, but never have I heard chord progressions and arrangments until I heard this album (check "Ai No Sono," "The First Garden" and "Power Flower"). Simply amazing. worship

'Secret Life of Plants' is one of my desert-island records!!!

I love all of Stevie's 70s work and 'Songs in the Key of Life' is the masterpiece crowning this whole period.

But 'Secret Life' is the true forgotten masterpiece. It is so unique that many people didn't know what to make of it when it came out. The record flopped, much to Stevie's dismay -- he was convinced it was his best work yet.

Lately, it has been 'rediscovered' by critics and has enjoyed a second career of sorts.

'Secret Life of Plants' is like a self-contained world filled with some of the most strangely beautiful music I've ever heard.

BTW, it's supposed to be the musical score for a documentary movie. Does it really exist? Has anyone seen it?

You know, I bought every album from 1971 to 1980 except this one on the basis of hearing other people say it wasn't good.

Time for me to just decide for myself.

I'd like to see that! 'Tilt''s a great album. I'd love to see Scott Walker do another soon. But it's not what you'd call 'easy listening'!

Honestly, IMHO, you should've by-passed all the other albums and picked this one up first! lol
