Atlantic Starr's Tribute Thread!

If you're a regular listener to any of New York's midnight old school/quite storm stations then you'll surely won't miss this band and their smoothy hits.

Here're my ABSLOUTE fave 2 songs

1.Touch A Four Leaf Clover: Some of ya'll maybe fimiliar with the song itself(and not the group). The song was covered by Neo-Soul queen Erykah Badu in her 97's winner "Baduism", she truely made the cover intersting but ain't nothing can touch the original song. Everytime I hear the original at night, all I wanted is to open all the car's windows and just groove while driving that ride,,,I just can't help it, it has that bad ass groove in it that makes me loose it,,JUST LOOSE IT!

2.When Love Calls: As ya'll know, Mary J Blige sampled that song in "Willing & Able"(she can be heared in the backround and the intro of this song) which can be found in her latest "Love & Life". Matta o' fact, the original female singer 4 Atlantic Starr(Sharon Byrant-the same chic in that pic) is currently a back-up singer 4 Mary Blige(and other RnB act). Its sad really cuz she can carry her own self as an artist but I guess she loves doing this session work since she parted from the band.

Anyfans? Speak up!

Whatever happened to the luscious Barbara Weathers? "All in the Name of Love" is my fave, though Sharon Bryant is THE original. I dig them both.

Sharon Bryant singing backup for Mary. That's almost as bad as Lisa Fischer singing backup for the Rolling Stones. Such great voices...Guess that's where the money's at...

Atlantic Starr is one of my favourites. They honestly don't make music like this anymore.

I don't like that Mary J song.It sucks.Heard it on the radio the other day."When Love Calls" is one of my favorite Atlantic Starr songs. Can't believe Sharon Bryant is on the song either.I don't have Mary's new album so I didn't know that.I like Mary but she should've left that song alone.

"Circles" is another good one, too nod
But they can play "Am I Dreaming" and "Send For Me" a thousand times consecutively on the radio and I'll never get tired of em!

Absolutely LOVE Atlantic Star. One of my favorite groups from the 80's. Their music brings back so many fond memories.

Talk about a group that should be on VH1's Bands Reunited.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I love Atlantic Starr! My favorite song by them is "All In The Name Of Love" w/Barbara but I love Sharon Bryant, too. Her remake of "Foolish Heart" is still in rotation at my house.
