THE NEW JANET ERA IS FINALLY HERE!!! Oh my God, I am so excited, you guys! I can't believe that the song is finally out. After waiting for so long, everything is happening so fast. Just last week we didn't even know the title of the single, and now we have "Love Me For a Little While".
...I wanna make it like a dream for you, and turn every fantasy into truth. You know I'll take ya anywhere that you wanna go right now, just to love you for a little while... The Superbowl is TOMORROW! Ahhh! I took off from work and everything, and cannot think about anything else. I've had the worst week imaginable and have been going through a lot, but when I came home to hear the new song and get caught up in all of the Janet excitement, my whole mood changed and now I can't stop smiling over the thought of all this. The album and tour are just around the corner, too! ...frui-ooo-ooo-ooo-oot! [This message was edited Sat Jan 31 5:58:57 PST 2004 by theVelvetRoper]

I just hope it's better than her last one.

I'm a fan of Jam and Lewis and most of Janet's stuff, but lately, including this song, it feels like there's no emotion behind her vocals. It could be anyone singing, her vocals are way too produced and mechanical, especially compared to the first 2 albums (well kind of the first-control and Rhythm Nation). Her voice has much more emotion and not so generic sounding as it has been on the last few albums. Anyone agree? ______________________________________________

Nope! frui-ooo-ooo-ooo-oot! Try to listen for any ounce of emotion in her vocal on that song. It doesnt go up or down or even sound like a real person, it's totally compressed and mechanical, you could put it on one of theMac voices. ______________________________________________

Agreed, but I think she did a really really good job on The Velvet Rope and janet. All For You was pretty bland vocally and if "Love Me For A Little While" is the best the album has to offer, I'm not buying it. Someone earlier said it sounds like Janet is trying to sound like Hilary Duff trying to sound like Avril Lavigne, and that rings true (especially if you listen to a few of Hilary's tracks). Nope, I think she sounds great. However I do hope it's better than the All For You album, which is my least favorite next to Dream Street. I don't think Janet's going to let us down with this album, though.

The New Single, sounds like the guitar on 'When U were mine'
from Dirty Mind...definitely retro-funk/rock on this joint! I like it I lover her voice The Song isn't your average Janet song...may need to grow on a few folx first...otherwise I'll buy the Album!

Still, I expect great things from the album.

Oh my gosh!!! You mean, she's ... she's ... she's gonna act her age on this album, instead of a sexually awakening teenager??!??!

It would be extremely inappropriate for a teenager to be singing about some of the things she sings about.

It would be extremely inappropriate for a teenager to be singing about some of the things she sings about. I hope the new era of Janet gives us something more than an update in production and chord changes. Usually, we get a tired rehash of her tired sex-kitten persona in 3, easy-to-peg facets: 1) the giggly daydreamer who can't believe what a great time she's having on the dancefloor, 2) the sometimes-angry, often lonely, always moaning seductress who has no inhibitions. Every now and again, we get the 3) The social commentator with a trite, Oprah-light message of respect and self-awareness. ('tator edit...) Saying you're not too into the new single does not mean you're insulting or malicious. if that's what you said, then i probably wasn't directing that at you. my point was, why piss on someone's parade? there's numerous janet threads of late yet peeps still felt the need to come on every last one and say something catty or insulting or negative. its all good. i mean, no one's gonna lose sleep over it . i just thought i'd mention it.

OK, I'll bite. My sarcasm probably didn't come across as playful. Being tired of JJ's tripe hasn't prevented me from buying it each and every time. And, like I assured TVR, I'm looking forward to it, too. I'm a fan. I burn "JJ-themed" CDs and hunt on eBay for 12" singles. We do it because, as with Prince and his idiosyncrasies, we're fans. Chill out.
