american idol judges (especially paula)

i understand that some of these people were awful but i have a problem with the fact that some of those awful singers were not only humiliated by the fact that they were led on to believe they had a chance, but sometimes randy and simon were just so incredibly rude. way more than necessary. and paula...look, she was fun and all back in the day but let's face it, girl couldn't sing all that well. not even better than most of those fools on the show. if she had auditioned today, as a nobody, she would not get accepted.

see, at times I feel bad, but then I'm like "COME ON" if some of these fools really still think they have a chance, they need the harsh dose of reality...

besides, I firmly believe that 95% of these cases ham it up knowing they'll never get "to go to Hollywood" on AI but just trying to make the final cut of what's televised.

Regardless, at least Paula typically finds one good thing to say to each contestant!

i guess my main issue is the fact that someone (i'm not talking about the jokesters, either) really wants it to happen. they do the initial 2 auditions for the producers and they make he cut. that boosts their hopes. then they get in front of paula, randy and simon and they are insulted and made fun of. that's what i think is busted. if they were showing clips from people who never made it to the judges, then i would laugh my ass off. but when they let people think they have a chance...that's just wrong.

There was one guy on tonight that sounded really good and they bashed him-but then cheerleader girl came on and sang "I wanna dance with somebody" and she sounded SOOO dense! They said she was going to Hollywood! Kinda urky.

She has been so busy with AI, may be her schedule does not allow studio time.

I don't get how some of these people make it through the screening to even get in front of Simon, Paula and Randy. If some of the ones who make it through to them are that bad, how bad could the ones who don't even get that far be?

you know they intentionally let the bad ones through! That's what makes the "try-out" episodes so "fun" cos they show us the ones who make it AND the worst of the worst

And I was not impressed with any of them.
I sat and saw this for really the first time because I think the whole thing is a joke, I think they just let the better of the worst go thru because of the show.

What an american idol??? Give them a little contract, do a few commercials and then quickly fade away into the "hey what ever happened to that person from american idol".

One big joke.

Paula better be taking some "Madonna-Evita-style" singing lessons b/c if she comes out with an album sounding like she did back on FOrver Your girl, Spellbound and Head over heals, she "Won't be going to hollywood."

I have to agree with Randy and Simon on the tall brother who came in wearing a tan-colored suit with the label still attached to the sleeve (that infraction ALONE would've gotten a no from me! wink). He was wearing shades and moving his head from side to side. I'm thinking: "Is he blind?" But, then realized that he did walk in unassisted. The guy who came after him sang one of Simon's "favorite songs" really well, and he was selected. thumbs up! When the rejected contestant heard the commotion he said something like, "They must be looking for a pop singer, not an R&B singer." I thought they were just looking for good singers.

Then there was this other guy. Nice looking, Latino perhaps? He was the one Simon asked, "What would you do if you had a million dollars?" He wasn't good either. And he was so upset that he cried when he left.

I want to give guys like them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they were nervous. Maybe they made a poor song choice. Guess they've always had friends and family say how great they are. Then they get in front of judges who make a living on spotting talent, and whose opinions shouldn't be subjective but honest. It's gotta hurt.

ok, well after watching tonite i really don't understand their choices. some of the people they sent through to hollywood were just mediocre at best but there were a couple people they passed on that were pretty good...especially the girl who cheered herself. sure, that's why they didn't accept her...and that's busted. its like they were reprimanding her because she had faith in herself. they did that to someone else too and it just doesn't make sense. if someone really is good, why should they act like their not?
