A 4gotton Oldie-"I'm The One" By Roberta Flack This is the self-title song 4 her 1982's album. This is str8 up dreamy-eyed jazz/funk, the production is def something to look out. One thang I know about this song, it features Roberta is a person with powerfull ears(it feels like that in most of her music,,,she just knows how to balance and thats one of the basic thangs in jazz music AND she used this rule with other genres too-obeviously it worked).
My damn ears truely can't get enough of this less-than-minor hit

I love this song too.I always wondered why it didn't become a bigger hit. It's one of her best songs.I love the bold, confident lyrics in which Roberta tells her man...
"makin love,I am the best I'm all yours...just put me to the test Love is my specialty and I know what to do to make you give your love to me"

Great song & album!
Roberta's tender voice fits perfectly with the sound of the Ralph MacDonald production (what a great musician/arranger/producer he is, also loving his rare solo records he released over the years) didn't supplement the old vinyl on CD yet though... btw, is there any good Roberta Flack Anthology or BestOf collection out there?? if not it would be about time! Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

The CD is available and its cheap too. Far as the best of? There's one and you ain't missin' much cuz its short AND they didn't include all of her hits(just the commercial ones). I'm waiting 4 her(& Donny Hothaway's) anthology from Rhino record!

I thought it was a radio hit, until I realized I wasn't hearing it on the radio for years and years until one day that song popped in my head. Then I downloaded it, so at least I have that. It's a great song! "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."
