SOTD: "SUPERSOULFIGHTER" by Lenny Just rediscovered this gem off his album "5" and I must
say, it's a funky track. I remember back at the time being rather taken with this track as well as "Black Velveteen", they sounded so much like Prince Anywho, great song. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

You're My Flavor
If You Can't Say No We Should Take Time All my faves. But, when I want to hear some nice soul guitar from LK, it's SuperSoulFighter. (Is that Chaka Khan saying, "He's a soooul fighter," at the end of the song?)

Those lyrics sound like a direct rip-off of "Astro Man" by Hendrix.

Looking back, I hate to admit it but Lenny's sound and vibe is nothing but a copy of jimi...

Angie Stone used to be his back-up singer in the early days (1989-91), she also covered a song also done by Lenny (but not written by him) Heaven Help from his AYGGMW? album. It appeared on her first album Black Diamond. As far as Lenny "copying" people, he has never denied his influences, he more or less wears them like a badge of honor. I've never liked this song, but the rest of this record is great.
