Not sure how reliable this info is,but I just heard that Teena Marie's long awaited new CD is due next month.The album is titled 'La Vona' and it will be released on the Cash Money Classics label.She is currently shooting the album cover with renowed photographer Randee St.Nicholas (doesn't that name ring a bell? LOL).The album includes songs produced by Raphael Saadiq and Manny Fresh (of Cash Money Records).Guests on the album include Common,Rick James,Gerald LeVert,Bahamadia and a few others.


Previously,this project was titled 'Black Reign' but it looks like Teena has had a change of heart.I'm not sure what the final tracklist looks like,but I do know of several tracks that have been recorded for this project...



"My Body's Hungry"
"Black Reign"
"Ooh Baby Baby" (a remake of the Smokey Robinson classic)
"Baby I'm Your Friend"
"A Rose By Any Other Name" (a duet with Geral LeVert)
"I Love Him Too" (a duet with her background vocalist Dee Dee O'Neil)
"I Still Love You" (the first single)

Great news..if in fact true...Still trippin about her being signed to Cash Money Records..

She did a track with Danny Tenaglia a few years back, around 99 or so.

That album was called "Black Rain" and it's been in the works for like six years. The cash money project is a whole new project. Randee St.Nichols has photographed Teena before, check her Naked To The World cover. This is the album that featured "Ooh La La La" later used by the Fugees for "Fugee La" (I think that's the title.)
