Britney's TOXIC - diggin it.

Okay, forget the madonner kiss, the boobie shots all over the net, the strip show on MTV.

This tune is the jam. If it was Dre singing this instead of pop-media-ho Britney, you would listen to it a few more times.

I REALLY dig this song.

Isn't that synth line at the beginning and throughout from Prince's "Automatic"? It sounds VERY similar to me.

I feel a little ashamed to say I love a Britney Spears song, but I do.

Dear Britney,

Please quit being a cocktease and reveal your nipples. Thx.

From: interested parties

The video's hilarious, though. Very cheesy. Britney as cosmic slut flight attendant...works for me! I also like how she parodies Christina Aguilera's recent "natty black hair" persona.

With "In The Zone" already double platinum, I don't think she really needs her career "saved". But I think a top 10 hit could help - a lot. She hasn't had one since 2000 (when "Ooops!...I Did It Again" made #9) - although "Stronger" did reach #11 in 2001. Unlike Madonna, she's hardly a strong singles artist, which speaks to the fact that her albums are perhaps not as strong as Jive would like them to be.

If they're smart, they'll ride "Toxic" to its completion (perhaps all the way to #1 considering the way radio is embracing it), then serve "Breathe On Me" to both radio and clubs. No more singles should be released after that -there's nothing else that's strong enough to justify single release. Simply release DJ-vinyl remixes of "Touch Of My Hand" and "Outrageous", perhaps, and earn her a few more dance club/hits (upping her cachet with that market).

Her next album NEEDS to have strong singles, or she'll go the way of Samantha Fox (anyone remember "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too"?).

I agree, but you are judging success on US charts. Britney's European charts success is dropping big time, particularly with albums.

Toxic might turn a corner. I hope so. I think she deserves a break.

As for Sam Fox! She lived next door to me for two years! so sure i remember her!

Yeah, her stock in European, Japanese and Australian markets is dropping like a stone.

I'm really trying hard to hate this song and anything Britney does, but I'm kinda straddling the fence here. The song does sound kinda cool and has that pop star sassiness that the manufacturers are always trying to sell us.

Unlike most of her recent output, I can actually listen to this song, although not too much. If it was played at a club or a party, I'd definitely be dancing to it.
