Old Skool Joint Of The Day (1/21/04) - 'Snap Shot' - Slave

I love the bass intro on this joint. Slave had some of the funkiest bass lines ever. If you hear this shit and you ain't movin' your ass...well, you just betta...

Ever lovin' Stevie Arrington!!

The Show Time album is the bomb!!! They really messed up the Best Of Slave compilation when they put the short version of Snap Shot on there. WTF were they thinking? Steve's voice and Mark's bass...ooohweee!!! What about the other cuts on that album: Wait For Me and For The Love Of U? You know what I love best about Arrington's voice? There is not a single person out there that sounds like him.

Great track! Mark Adams was the best funk bassist out there!

"the upper persuasion...for the lower invasion..."

It took me years before I caught that line.

GREAT PICK...A classic 80's funk jam...Man, Mark Adams just laid in the cut and delivered a tight riff on this one...A lot of compilations use the edited version of this song...which is a shame...Steve Arrington delivered the vocals on this one with his eyes in the studio from what I read.

I like the spoken word part...

"Now this one is for the cover of Life Magazine so we want to get all the way tough on this one...SNAP YOOOUUU"

Steve Arrington has an UNBELIEVABLE voice, & this is 1 of the many funky songs on which he did his "vocal gymastics"!
I'll see you tonight..

Yea..Steve Arrington was no joke...Like Adams, he is underrated because they're both in a underrated band.
They never captured the level of popularity of a Parliament/Funkadelic or Kool And The Gang, but they were fierce and could funk with the best of them...

Steve is very versatile...I like that adlib he does on the long version of "Wait For Me"..he kind of puts you in the mind of a jazz singer on that one.
