Romeo Void

OK so who watched Romeo Void Reuniting the Band last night on VH1? I thought it was excellent. I pulled out my old 12" single of Never say Never and gave it a few spins last night. And ordered their BestOf collection from Half.com, LOL. I think this show is going to cost me alot of money by the time all the episodes run. smile

In my opinion, I was there watching and I've got to say it was interesting from a few of stand points.

First, this poor bastid that can't hear anymore and was an important part of the band. Let's not add reality television drama to the mix, it just seemed to be in poor taste.

Then there was the part when they explained that they were on tour when MTV started and noticed people knew who they were because of a televison station. Which then became their undoing because of the lead singer being Big, Large, Beautiful woman. A band directly scarred by MTV, that's great.

Never Say Never is an awesome song but the rest of their 80's crap has to go. So cheesy and forgettable that it makes me think at least their one hit was great for a one hit wonder band.

Flock of Seagulls tonight, you gonna be there? lol

You know I did, man. It was just sad to see that their original saxaphone player couldn't join them in their performance because of his hearing loss. sad

But he did get to reunite with the group and they carried on anyway. Yeah, I've gotta got out and get their greatest hits CD myself too.

By the way, tonight's episode of Bands Reunited will be about A Flock of Seagulls. Now that should be pretty interesting. smile

no no no! Hey hey, they had some good stuff outside of Never Say Never. What about "Girl in Trouble" or "Chinatown"? I think they made some great new wave. You're probably not a big fan of the genre.

i think i actually prefer A Girl in Trouble over Never say Never... great song.

And yeah I'll be watching A Flock of Seagulls tonight... should be interesting. They actually had some very cool songs, like Wishing, Nightmares, etc...

Sorry New Wave Forever, I hate when people make generalizations.

Never Say Never is a very cool song. I never cared much for the band overall cuz I hate the way they flooded the songs with sax.

I've got their best of "Warm In Your Coat" and it's pretty great. Check out "Undercover Kept". It's so Prince circa 1985. Great stuff!

Awesome tune. Got that dance/funk/rock groove to it. Romeo Void is kinda becoming an obsession of mine now too.

Definitely. Now all we need is a reunion album and tour. That would be tops.

They remind me of a funkier version of Joy Division with Kim Gordon on vocals. Such a cool sound.

I doubt it. But I wouldn't rule it out either. "Never Say Never". wink
