i see these guys are not discussed much over here but i was wondering if we have any Coldplay fans in here. i like 'em but i'm not crazy about them.
i saw them at Earl's Court last year and they were ok. i see why people like them: Chris Martin acts like what a lot of guys like him act like ie a nerd and a lot of grils like him cuz he is "cute and nerdy".

I like them. I have both Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head. They have a strong sense of melody, good instrumentation, and sometimes heartbreaking vocals. I can understand why some people hate them, though - their music can seem a bit (how shall i put this) self-involved at times. They're going to have to do something new on their next record or I'll write them off as a one-trick pony (despite the artistic progression they've exhibited since Parachutes, they need some lyrical innovation).

I'm a huge fan of Coldplay. I know some people think their music is kinda pretentious, but I love them. They make beautiful music, and though I haven't seen them live yet, I have their live CD and DVD and they seem great live. Some of my favorite songs of theirs are Yellow, Clocks, Shiver, The Scientist, Everything's Not Lost, and Trouble.

I love "Clocks" but that's all I know about them.

Thing that struck me was that I enjoyed every single song on both albums, including the b sides


so Im a fan, I have to be if I like it that much.

I really wanted to hate Coldplay after the overexposure that come with "Yellow"

Then a friend gave me a copy of Parachutes, made me listen to it and I have been a fan since

I'm still waiting to see what they'll do next, but I'm liking it so far!

I like Coldplay! My favorite song is "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" and the live version from the dvd is killer!

I love Coldplay. I like their sound and lyrics. Very interesting band!

I want to dislike them but they write good tunes. I think "Careful Where You Stand" is really great. "Clocks" is good but it sounds too much like U2 IMO. I really don't understand why people mention them in the same breath as Radiohead though...I'm not a HUGE Radiohead fan, but they're light years ahead of Coldplay.

I hate Coldplay, it's sissy music. They're like U2 on sedatives.

Coldplay is slightly above-average at best. IMHO, they are the most overrated band in rock right now. There isn't any real heart or feeling or energy in their music. It's all very very similar and dour and subdued.. even when they are trying to rock. They do have a few good songs, the best being The Scientist. But they're pretentious and overblown, IMO. There are great bands out there much better than Coldplay that get absolutely NONE of the attention that Coldplay receives. Too much hype, too little substance.

But it's not fair to compare somebody to Radiohead, they're on another level. So we'll see... I just find it frustrating that Coldplay is apparently the darlings of the alternative world and there are so many other great bands just as good and better that get no attention. oh well, the way life is i guess.
