here I go again....who remembers these forgotten R&B songs from the 70s?

Thanks to all of you who participated on the 80s thread, where we discussed forgotten R&B songs from that era. Now,let's do the 70s.Let's make a list of those obscure, forgotten R&B jams that were,in many cases, only minor hits (that means no "Brick House" or "Backstabbers"...lol).In other words, list the songs that NEVER seem to appear on those 70s hits compilations. Here we go...

***"Baby I Need Your Love Today" by Sweet Thunder (1978)---my mother had this 45.If I'm not mistaken,I think these guys were proteges of the Ohio Players.
***"Why Leave Us Alone" by Five Special (1979) headbang
***"If You Want It" by Niteflyte (1979)
***"Don't Let Go" by Isaac Hayes (1979)
***"If It Don't Fit,Don't Force It" by Kellie Patterson (1977)
***"Are You Man Enough?" by the Four Tops (1973?)
***"Rock Me Again and Again and Again" by Lyn Collins (1975)
***"Love Jones" by Brighter Side Of Darkness (1973)
***"Garbage Can" by the Soul Train Gang (1975)---yes,it's a weird title for a song...lol...but this is SO FUNKY!!! The Soul Train Gang was a group that Don Cornelius put together in the mid-70s.They did two albums but never really made it big.But "Garbage Can" ranks right up there with the best funk jams from this era.
***"Rock Creek Park" by the Blackbyrds (1976)---y'all know them for their huge '75 hit "Walkin' In Rhythm",right? Get their Greatest Hits CD,they had numerous jams.
***"Don't Be Afraid" by Ronnie Dyson (1977)

Any more?

Slammin'! Funny...when I think of Stargard, I think of the Ritchie Family.

The Jackson 5- I Am Love(1975)...One of the Jackson Brothers greatest moments...

This song is hot! Love the slow intro and how it picks up tempo. It's all Jermaine, right?

I know... the musical arrangements on this piece is amazing. I would love for Mike to get this creative in his music now.

On threads like this, more and more do I miss the good ole days of Napster, Morpheus, and Kazaa (prior to the suits). I could easily have a thousand mp3's of jams. Now I'm gonna go and cry. Thanks alot David Eye!

Now it looks like I have some research to do. Of the first set of songs you listed, these are the only two I recognize. I think I associate the Blackbyrds with "Rock Creek Park" even more than with "Walkin' In Rhythm". I loved that Isaac Hayes track when it came out back in the day.

Of your second set, I only remember two as well (in part because I happen to own them):

***"Everybody Loves The Sunshine" by Roy Ayers (1976)---man,this song deserves a thread of it's own!!
***"Olivia (Lost And Turned Out)" by the Whispers (1978)

Great thread, though! Keep them comin'!

nod nod nod nod

I melt,I feel so weak
It's gettin' hard to go to sleep
This feeling on my mind
It needs you baby,to satisfy

(chorus)
You can't turn me off
not in the middle of turning me on
I can't suddenly stop

You changed me from cold to hot
Now I'm ready to give you all the love I've got
Please don't leave me now
can't you read in my eyes
this need I have,to love

So don't tease me now
Please,please me now

(chorus)
You can't trun me off
Not in the middle of turning me on
(in the middle,in the middle)
I can't suddenly stop

Each and every time we touch
Ooh,this feeling is too much
Take me to that special place
you've gone too far to leave me so spaced
(spaced baby)
So don't tease me now (don't tease me)
you won't do nothin' but please me now

(chorus)

Well if you love me like I love you
then you'll do what I want you to do baby
You'll come and hold me in your lovin' arms
and make my heart rush straight to the stars

So don't tease me now (don't tease me)
you won't do nothin' but please me now
oh yeah

You can't turn me off
not in the middle of turning me on
