I didnt dig Britney's "Toxic" song much. I saw some drag queens perform it at the club last night. I said 2 myself, "they said that this song is Princey? That is what they were all hyping about?" I liked Me Against The Music alot better.
I still dont have the album but i wanna hear it, and i have yet 2 c the video also. jus my 2 cents Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I thought that this song had promise when I heard 20 seconds of it on TRL but today, while I was driving, the song came on the radio and it just irritated the fuck outta me. I still don;t know though. It could be that the song sounded so irritating because I didn't really want to be driving.

I've never been able to stand her music, but to be honest, I kinda dig this track. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

In reality, this isn't a Britney song, but a Cathy Dennis song (production, music & lyrics, backing vocals).

In reality, Britney sings it. In reality, do you consider Take A Bow to be a Madonna song or a Babyface song?

Actually, I'm pretty sure Cathy sings more on that track than Britney does Brit's good at supplying the grunts and moans, though. And, in reality, Madonna co-wrote Take A Bow. You and ___ again. a) I didn't bring her up. b) How is stating that she's listed as cowriter of "Take A Bow" misinformation?

[This message was edited Tue Jan 20 11:31:21 PST 2004 by VoicesCarry] Ok, I know you get my point but just to be more accurate and make my point that much more clear...is Material Girl a Madonna song? She was dubbed 'the Material Girl' after recording it...but she didn't write it. That credit goes to Peter Brown and Robert Rans. so should we call that song a Brown/Rans song or does it remain a Madonna song? What about Like A Virgin? Is that a Madonna song? Or should we start correctly addressing it as Billy Steinberg's and Tom Kelly's song?

that is an incredibly weak attempt at discrediting britney for a great song. look, you don't have to like britney but that is just lame. the song is HOT!

I'm not even sure she's singing on it. As her career progresses, she's relying on increasingly-processed vocals to cover up the fact that, well, she can't sing. So what "credit" should I give her, exactly? Credit for looking good? What has she shown she can do besides that? As for the actual recording process, I can't be sure. Maybe she buys pastry for the producers. Just an opinion. BTW, if you listen to "Everytime" and "Not A Girl (Not Yet A Woman)" - bad as they may be - she uses her voice to full potential. Wish she'd do it more often. [This message was edited Tue Jan 20 12:36:22 PST 2004 by VoicesCarry]

I always thought that Cyndi's voice was damn underrated, especially on her debut. From the beginning, it was really good. A bit squeaky, but very powerful, emotive and well-modulated. One listen to "Money Changes Everything" or any of her live tracks from the era will show that. Vocally, she far, far outranks Madonna, and she's improved with age. i do like "Me against the music" better than toxic, too. But her music video in "Toxic" she looks SO funny and yet absurd wth that costume she wore. But I like that song with her and Madonna in it more than the second.
