Janet Making "Sexiest Album Yet"

From mtv.com...

Janet Jackson knows sexy — from her topless Rolling Stone cover to videos like the Herb Ritts-directed "Love Will Never Do (Without You)" — but producer Dallas Austin promises her new album is "easily the most sexy thing she's done."

"Guys won't know what to do with themselves after this," he said, laughing at the prospect. "It's one of the best records she's made."

Austin said he's produced five songs with Janet already, having worked with her over the last few months at his DARP Studios in Atlanta. Janet's still-untitled album is due March 30, according to a spokesperson for her label. Austin said he and Janet will record for another month before deciding which songs make the final cut. Janet is also working with longtime executive producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

The overriding theme of Austin's collaborations with Janet is her bubbling sexuality. "To me, this is her Dirty Mind," Austin explained, referring to the Prince album that established him as a hormonally charged pop star. "It's a really sexy record, but not in a sensual way. It's bold, it's fun, it's really positive. Nobody's sad, nobody's mad. It's just really fun songs where she happens to be talking frankly about sex."

Austin said the direction came from the energy she gave off from her when they first started working together. "She always shows what's going on with her life through her records, reveals the phase she's in with her life and brings out that experience," he said.

Early on in the recording process last May, producer 7 Aurelius said he and Jackson had crafted some "cutting edge, hard-hitting dance music" for the LP, and he predicted fans would be surprised by the final product (see "Janet Jackson Recording 'Hard-Hitting Dance Music' For New LP").

Austin, meanwhile, has also been spending time working with another alluring talent — Gwen Stefani. The bulk of the songs they've worked on were finished before the holidays, he said.

"They're both the easiest artists to work with, [Janet] and Gwen," Austin said. "With both their albums, it's the most creative vibe I've had in a long time. You'd think because of their status they're going to be spoiled stars, but it's not like that. They're open to anything you put in front of them, and that's so important because as a songwriter and producer it leaves you free to do what you do best."

Okay, my views on this? Sexual, not sensual? Is that what he said? I'm really hoping this album isn't just a whole bunch of "Would You Mind" type songs. That song was pure sex, not sexy. I love Janet and her music, but that's easily my least favorite song of hers. To me, it's just there for the sake of being raunchy, there was nothing else really behind it. Fine, if Janet's going through a period in her life where sex is the main issue, and
I'm not saying that blatant sex songs aren't good, I just hope the music is still good and this record isn't meant for just sheer shock-value.

I don't think Janet's going to let us down, though.

rolleyes Probably means it will be her worst, least interesting record then (if All For You was any hint). NEXT!

Janet can be sensual, and she can do it well, but when she turns up the porn and tunes out the tenderness, it gets boring fast.

And why do you think that? Because I prefer Marvin Gaye-style sensuality to unsubtle material like "Would You Mind"?

considering that the reference is to 'dirty mind', i highly doubt it will be a bunch of slow sex songs, like 'would you mind'. it sound slike it will be a dance record that is very nasty and sexy. maybe along the lines of 'throb'? after the feedback from 'all for you', i would assume that janet is going to go back to a more 'janet.' styled album. i liked 'all for you' but i will admit it was her weakest record...probably because of all the shit she was going through at the time. when you are going through a divorce, and that person is threatening to take a bunch of your money and property, you may not be too into recording a record. who knows. but i can't wait for new Janet!

I can't wait, either! I'm just excited any way you look at it, and I get the feeling this is going to be a great album.

Personally, I'm hoping for a more TVR-like album than something comparable to janet. If she threw some killer dance grooves in along with the kind of lyrical exploration she did on TVR it could be her best yet.

nod i completely agree! tvr is her best album, i think. as far as pop records go, it is pretty deep.

"sexiest album yet"? Nothing new about that.Janet has been playing the horny sex kitten role for her last three albums. It's too bad she doesn't seem ready to go into another direction this time around. This album sounds like it will be just another predictable faked-orgasm fest...lol...

Wow, I can't believe you said that, but I am glad you did. I was thinking the exact same thing, but didn't want to get flamed as I do like JJ. Her last 3 albums have been ok, but nothing special. I guess she has to somehow do her best to keep up with the Britneys of the world.

Yeah, she's 38...trying to act 17. Sometimes, it sounds weak. At least Rhythm Nation and TVR attempted lyrics that were ABOUT something.

I sorta agree with you that Janet should be singing about something other than sex, but then I remember that hard on I got the first few times I heard her sing Would You Mind, and the truth is, no, I don't mind it at all...

Bring it on!

interesting. AS long as the record is heavy on the dance and light on the ballads this could be good!

After All For You, girl's gotta wow me to keep me on the Janet train

I hope the album is lots of ballads though. I thought All 4 U had 2 much fast songs on it. It was sequenced a little poorly (slow jams in the middle).

I hope it is sensual, sexy and downright NASTEH!

I was gonna make a Janet Sex album, but i better wait until this comes out ... oooh.

I would feel at ease if it was "her most conscious" or "most self-affirming" album ever. lol

Honestly, I don't like "Throb" "Would You Mind" "When We OOO" "Rope Burn" "Feels So Right" and I never even throw on "Twenty Foreplay".

However, "Chyna Love" "I Get Lonely" "Body That Loves You" "Someday Is 2nite", like y'all made the distinction of what SENSUAL is, that's where Janet shines for me.

But if shes made an album singing about a guy's "package"... rolleyes lol

Actually out of all the one's I mentioned, I would probably enjoy "Rope Burn" the most for its groove, but really when Janet is in that sexy mode lyrically, it doesn't seem honest or even sexy?

i think that is the sexiest part of the song.

Uh, I'm not so sure those orgasms were faked. lick
Either way, I HOPE its another "horny sex kitten CD. I'm still cleanin' up the trousers from "Would You Mind". If you get into Janet, you can hear that she HAS grown from CD to CD. She has some deep songs like "What About" that address issues other pop stars wouldn't touch. Unlike her kiddie countrprts, Janet does actually say something. In the meantime, I'll await the new CD horny and hope its good. If not, I'll have a new coaster to go along with my Choas & Disorder coaster. evillol

See, Rope Burn is a blatantly sexual song, but it's still damn sexy! I think it's one of the sexiest songs ever, and the beginning is one of my favorite parts, too. wink

To me though, subtle songs are usually sexier. I think that "That's The Way Love" goes is one of the hottest things ever! Everything about it, the groove to it, the lyrics, the "hooo!" biggrin

Uh, she's 37 and a 17 year-old shouldn't be acting sexual, period.

As a JDJ friend, I will say that I am personally getting tired of the moans and groans and all the sex talk. I don't think anything she does in that way could sound new again. Actually, I wouldn't mind the sex talk as long as she didn't moan anymore
