Is it as good as Heart's "Magic Man"? confused

Was that Bill Summers track called "Call It What You Want" or "Call it The Box"? I used to give that jam serious spins at house parties back in the day. The break in that cut is nasty!

"We Got The Juice" by Attitude.
Produced by the System, this was a real club banger in it;s day.

"Shackles" by RJ's Latest Arrivel
Another banger from the 80's

These two really stand out in my mind! Good call!

For some reason those two joints make me think of Orbit's remake of the old Sonny and Cher tune, "The Beat Goes On."

lol I love the Heart song too.that reminds me,I gotta get a compilation from them too.

But the Robert Winters song is totally different,it's a sexy R&B ballad, very soulful.A minor hit in 1981.

Here are a few more to chew on...

Skyy- Skyyzoo(1980)

The Temptations- Power(1980)

Ray Parker Jr- Just Havin Fun (1982)...A song in a similiar vein of "For Those Of You Who Like To Groove" which was his big instrumental jam. This wasn't released as a single, but I used to jam this one alot...Argubably, this song rips off the riff of the Isley Brothers soul classic "It's Your Thing", but it is a fun song just the same. This is taken from the album The Other Woman.

Patti Austin- Do You Love Me?(1981)...This was the leadoff single off of Patti's debut album on Quincy Jones record label Qwest Records called Every Home Should Have One. Because it was overshadowed by her big number #1 hit with James Ingram called "Baby Come To Me"people kind of forgot this one. But it is nice upbeat and catchy.

Alyson Williams- Just Call My Name (1989)...This song got plenty of airplay in 1989.

Freddie Jackson- Hey Lover(1988)...An underrated and forgotten slow jam by Freddie...hmmm, I'm noticing a lot of my picks are slow jams...lol

Secret Weapon- Must Be The Music(1982)

Ok, right now I seriously want to cry with laughter. I heard this song literally for the first time Saturday night while we were driving around the city. We were transfixed by this song and at the same time just dying with laughter. Imagine the pickup lines.

A couple more songs:

Another one by Starpoint that I liked alot, "Object of My Desire" (1985) I think. "You're the object of my desire, baby ignite my fire..."

Does anybody remember Bardeux "When We Kiss" (1988)?
"
It was late one night
And we had a fight
And it seem like nothing
Was going right
Then you turned around
And yo walked right out the door
Now its not the first time
Its not the last
I know all about
Your checker past
And we played this game
1000 times before
Do you remember the night?
I can see it so clear
All the sweet little things
That you said in my ear
There were promises made
But I think you forgot
What you said
There a real fine line
Between love and hate
And Im not the type
To just sit and wait
Ive made up my mind
I cant wait for you anymore!...

But when we kiss
It feels like this
And when we touch
It means so much..."
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

Orbit! Damn u just went there! Damn I miss those funky 12" records like that I would get in my record shipments back in the day. It was all about 110-125 beats per min back then lol. How about these:

"Taste So Good" can't remember the group
"Shake It Up" by Barone
"The Smurph" and "Fresh" by Tyrone Brunson
"Look Out Weekend" and "When I Hear Music" by Debbie Deb

lol Irene Cara had alot of promise. That album had a few underrated gems, like the ballad "You Were Made For Me",and the slick electro-grooves of "Breakdance" and "Cue Me Up".It was produced by Giorgio Moroder (Donna Summer's old producer),and I've always felt that Cara sounded like a young Donna. It's a shame that her career soon suffered, largely because of her drug problems.

I really liked her back in the day...good voice and very pretty. if I still had a record player, I'd dust this off and play it (and the soundtrack to 'Fame') for old time's sake...

Great,googa-mooga! Luscious Dame!!! omfg I was thinking about starting a thread on her. Figures you would remember her, DavidEye. What I remember most about her was that tremendous weave. smile And that there was something kind of MPLS sound about her, I think.

Now this post has got me thinking about Damian Dame.

They both passed away in the '90s. sad

NOW we're talkin'! I love this thread! I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, so I am a huge Ohio funk fan! The Slave Organization had some incredible jams back in the day. I remember the Mtume track -- I gave the Juicy Fruit album to my girlfriend at the time. The Dazz Band and Midnight Star were local favorites as well.
