The Police "Every Breath You take"

This is one of my favorite songs and it still gives me chills to this day. Anyway, just started this thread for anyone who wants to chat about it.

I love how everyone believes this song is a love song, when it's actually about a stalker.

I KNOW!!! I hear people played it at their weddings!! How funny! Sting said on VH-1's Behind the Music he wrote it when he and his first wife split.

Lol, half of all marriages end in divorce. Coincidentally, half of all wedding songs are either "I Will Always Love You" (breakup song) or "Every Breath You Take" (stalker song). Coincidence...or conspiracy? hmm

I'm big fan of this song precisely because it's a stalker song dressed up like a love song. It's just so beautiful. I absolutely HATE, however, P. Diddy's "I'll be missing you". yuck. What a great way to destroy a wonderful song.

They were such a band-I am at a loss for words-I love Sting so much but I wish his ego never got in the way...after all these years I yearn for a reunion tour...will never happen.

Outlandos D'AMour (did I spell that wrong) and Regatta De Blanc, then Syncronicity are my favorite Police Cds.

I'm fed up with all Police's hits at the exceptions of those of Ghost In The Machine
On Synchronicity, Tea In The Sahara is still pure bliss for me

The stalkers anthem, for sure! I liked it, though.

I wrote a paper in English class in college using that song compared to "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman about love and rejection and how people handle losing that love, which in both cases wouldn't be too well. The extremes that people will go to hold on to a relationship and not move on. Man I wrote that 10 years ago. It's a classic hands down. I couldn't believe it when I first heard that it was being used at weddings.disbelief Imagine that being the first song that a newlywed danced to. "This is our song. It speaks about the love that we have for each other..."
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

I LOVE Sting and the Police! This song is like the perfect pop song. It's catchy as hell, has all sorts of different meanings lyrically, and it's a musicianly take on something that could have just as easily been another "Stand By Me" type song (not that I dont' dig Stand By Me!)
