Mariah carey is set to play a concert in Malaysia very soon but it may not happen, since 60-70%of Malaysia is muslim,they are against Mariahs SEXY image and clothing (probably because she doesnt have a sheet covering her)they are demanding the concert be stopped and apologies be issued to the muslim peopleof malaysia (wow this is priceless). Im not really sure why MARIAH wants to play a concert there but she sold most of the 50,000 seats in the arena already, however, I think she should play it and she should make it SEXIER than she does here(and trust me i saw the tour and it gets hot with those outfits), maybe this will straighten these countries out, Im not saying women should allhave to dress that way, but they should be free to do it, and not beheaded like they are. I am so tired of all this reigious bullshit already.

Out of curiosity, I'm just wondering-do you actually KNOW any Muslims in your life personally? I do, and though you may find it hard to believe, not all of the women are fundementalist burka wearing slaves to their men. I'm an American living in Europe where Muslim women change their outfits EVERYDAY, and though they adhere to keeping their heads and arms covered, they are active in the workplace, they wear make-up, FIERCE stiletto boots, and will change those headscarves to match a FABULOUS Italian cut suit in a New York minute! I see them in the streets shopping with their families, I see them wearing the latest trendies where they work at H&M, and yes, I see them behind the desks in large offices or on televison singing music in their own native tongue (and baby, the women who sing in Arabic can work a vibrato right up there with any soul singer out there- which might explain a bit why I've found many an Arabic/Muslim friend who enjoys singers in the American R&B genre). Although I don't believe Mariah should ever be made to apologize for being what feels true to her as an entertainer- I also feel that we don't have to forcefeed other cultures our standards of beauty or ideology because frankly- many of those cultures, and I am speaking directly about women, (and yes, many Muslim women) are PERFECTLY HAPPY being what feels true to themselves as well.

In fact, the people went about their lives just as we do: shopping, eating out, going to work, etc. Yes, the majority of Malaysians are Muslim, but I personally didn't get the feeling that the women were oppressed or controlled. I was watching this movie from the 40s yesterday about these archaeologist looking for ancient artifacts in Egypt. There's this scene in which a bellydancer--showing cleavage and lots of midriff--is dancing around a group of muslim men. Then it occured to me: "Why is this okay, when there are women hiding behind burkas?"
