MJ's "One More Chance" - Yay or nay?

This song seems to be getting paid out a lot, but I think it's not as bad as it's made out to be. Sure, it's not strong enough to justify the purchase of a whole album of old songs, but take it it's own right and it's a nice little number. Actually would've made a good addition to Invincible. Surely we could've done without "2000 Watts". disbelief

I bought the 12" single of One More Chance, but mostly out of tradition and obligation, because I've bought every MJ album release to date.

There is a good chance this could be the last song he ever records. Think of it that way, watch the video and the whole thing is actually quite eery.

i still don't think it's a good song. and it doesn't remind me of old times. a song like 'superfly sister' did, but not this one. i think mike's vocal performance is pretty shaky at times. imo he's lost that ease and--at the same time--that power in his voice. it seems forced nowadays. and together with my opinion of mike, i guess you can't really call me a true fan anymore. i was for years and years, but not anymore. still, i'm always interested in what's going on with the dude..

I donno, I get a "done that all before" vibe from this song. Maybe it's the fact that it's written by R. Kelly, who really doesn't have much new to say. I agree that MJ's vocals are not up to par, though. Do you believe this is the last thing he'll record, though?

well, not all of it. when i listen to his older albums
up to 'dangerous' (and perhaps also 'history') i don't
feel that way. whenever i hear the "newer" stuff i
most definitely do.

The song is boring...and the first thing I noticed when I first heard it was the awful vocal performance by Mike. But the vocal performance is pretty good for a guy with no nasal pathways. nod

i have no idea what everyone is talking about, the vocal performance of that song is perfect. Obviously nobody on this board knows how to sing, otherwise we would all be michael jackson!

technically the vocals are fine, and in my opinion very different from what we are used to recently from mj, no hissing, spitting or anger!

Nope. He's already recorded more songs since. I don't know the names of them, though. shrug

But the releases are depending on the overall verdict of the case. nod Know what I mean? wink

But I looove single. I play all five tracks of it at least twice a day nod

One More Chance is a good song, and every1 who has heard it 2 me said they liked it.

read more careful pp4, i only referred to 'superfly sister' because that song reminds me of old times in a way. i didn't say it was a better song than 'one more chance'. i would prefer listening to it though. eventhough it does sound like a b-side or an unfinished song.

don't tell me you weren't blown away by mike's vocal performance on 'invincible'. after all his live (really live) performances of late, you wouldn't have imagined him singing like that. 'one more chance' is the perfect example of what i expected of mike vocally on the 'invincible' album. less power in his voice. a bit forced. it just feels like he tries too hard on that song imo. and not at all irrelevant is that i think the song itself is not that good. it has grown on me a little though.

I can and it's a nay! A terrible flaccid song. I think, I know, R. Kelly can write better than that. Why does R. Kelly always have to write a ballad for MJ. It worked once! Let's move on!
