why do all jimi hendrix songs sound like shit? i am not having a go at his undoubted brilliance on the axe, im just wondering why all his songs sound like they were recorded in a broom cupboard?
...i know they are 35 years old but so is "forever changes" by love and the songs on that sound wonderful and clear. ...so what happened?.. piss poor producer? ... ... ...ps..i dont really rate jimi as a singer, he should have stuck to his guitar. | |

I never saw what all the hype was about myself
most of his stuff sounds like crap IMO and I am not just talking about audio quality.. wow feedback, distortion, out of tune once again, my dog can do better Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now! | |

I think alot of the songs are great, but the production is totally crap!
Its so bad, its one of the reasons I don't listen to it too much. Even re-mastering hasn't saved it. . | |

Why should we care if someone appreciates Jimi or not? Their loss, IMHO. They aren't "wrong", it's just their musical taste does not happen to coincide with his music. One hell of an accurate description. I absolutely love hard rock music from the late 60's when the genre started to blossom. Whether it was Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath and those albums sounded great. Loud, brash in your face but Hendrix...geeze like you need a filter to listen to some of that stuff. Not being a major fan who in the hell produced those albums as they sound appalling? I've really wanted to appreciate Hendrix's work and have all his major studio album plus the Hendrix family endorsed material, not to mention a dozen or so bootlegs but i can't get into the man. Certain songs i love but as a whole his music never gets under my skin and no matter how hard i want to love it it never happens. Like a girl who's really attracted to you but as hard as you try you never feel the same back. | |

The kid could WORK the guitar, from what I've seen...
but... the voice is sub-par... the songs are sub-par... Not feelin' him either...he's no Prince. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. | |
